ONBR- Anybody ski here?

I just posted on FB asking for the best Spring skiing for beginners {Me, DH and DD are way better} and I think I got 100 different answers. Anybody want to weigh in? Looking for a family friendly, but fun place for skiing in late March. We would obviously need childcare during the day for the baby while we were skiing, but from what I can tell most big resort areas have a childcare place.

Thanks!

Re: ONBR- Anybody ski here?

  • I just went skiing last year in Beaver Creek, CO at the end of March/beginning of April.  My family has a place out there so I'm definitely biased.  Beaver is awesome and a bit less crowded than Vail.

Vail is also very family friendly.  I went skiing there a lot as a kid and they have ski school with little hidden secret forests the kids can ski through (I've seen them in Beaver too but never actually went through)… Wooden cutouts of animals and little hills they can ski over.  Both resorts have daycare.  Also, lots of runs for every level.

We're probably going to Beaver the 1st or 2nd week of April this year and the spring skiing is typically great.

  • I booked a condo there this morning @txmamatobe I bet we end up there.
  • Bromley in Vermont! New England skiing is so fun!

  • We love Keystone, CO. I've never taken my kids there, but I loved going as a kid/teenager. It's not far from Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin, so we always take day trips there when we go.

  • Washington has skiing! Plus, Washington is awesome.

Colorado local here... The Summit County resorts (Breckenridge, A-Basin, Keystone, and Copper Mountain) are great for family skiing because you can ski several resorts during one vacation, and they're all connected by bus. Late March is always a dicey choice for skiing. Spring skiing can be great -- warm weather, still decent snow.  Or it can be a mud puddle with the snow pack melting from the runs as you ski.  A-Basin stays open the longest (through May), but is best for black-diamond skiers since the runs and chutes that make it beloved among locals aren't for the timid or those who can't ski bumps. Spring skiing at Vail is to-die-for, if the Back Bowls are soft (and awful if they're frozen solid).  Winter Park/Mary Jane has a good combo of terrain for experts and intermediates, but is sometimes getting pretty thin on snow in late March.  We're having a decent snow year, so far, though.
  • Gotta agree New England skiing is where it's at!! Stowe, sugarloaf, Sunday river, okemo! So much fun!!
