Eating cabbage

So cabbage helps dry up your milk supply when applied to your breasts, But what if I eat it? I almost ate coleslaw last night and then got worried. Tried to google for a answer but only read it works when applied directly to your breasts. Sorry for the dumb question. TIA

Re: Eating cabbage

  • I eat cabbage at least 3 times a week (I'm German) and have never had any trouble with supply.

  • The cabbage leaves don't dry you up when applied to the breasts, they just relieve the pain of engorgment if you decide not to breastfeed. I became severely engorged four days after having my baby and used cabbage leaves. I am breastfeeding though, just needed relief until I could pump.
  • @hckygrl909 your use of your Germanness (Germanity?) as a cabbage eating excuse made me LOL.

I just assumed it was a German thing to do. My German grandparents seriously had cabbage at every meal. My Norwegian grandma put rutabaga in everything.

  • I eat cabbage all the time. We eat it three times a week if not more (and I'm not German) LOL

My milk supply is still fine.
