when did you do it?  I thought we were all past that phase, but I saw a few PTing post, so I guess some are still working on it.  We're going on a cruise and DS will be 2 weeks shy of 2 so he can't go in the pool.  So many people on the cruising boards have suggested that we PT DS before then.  We tried PTing DD at 22 months because she was very willing to go potty, after a good day or two she had a horrible two days, accidents right after being put on the potty, so we gave up.  We tried again at 27 months, cold turkey on diapers again, and she took to it right away.  Even then though she was still the 1st kid I knew to get potty trained.  Many of our friends started trying after us and it still took alot of them a few months.  When was your LO potty trained?  Do you think a boy being potty trained before 2 is doable?

Edit: sorry I thought this was the preschool board, that's why I was surprised to see potty training posts.  Feel free to comment anyway.

Re: for those who have potty trained

  • we tried at 18mo, wasn't ready. I researched and read that 22mos was the magic number that almost all kids are developmental ready at that age so we tried. We had success within a few days. DD was really hard to train because she was stubborn and had a huge fear of the potty, but we still managed to do it, so you just never know..

DS trained very easily at 21 months (following the methods outlined in the Oh Crap Potty Training ebook).

  • We trained at 24months and it went very smoothly, also with the 3 day method.

  • Our DS was fully potty trained in 5 days when he was 22 months. We also used the Oh Crap Potty Training book and things have been great since then.
  • At 18 months I had a kiddie potty in every bathroom and when I'd go, she'd follow me and sit on hers.  Then at around 21 months old I let her run around in dresses w/out a diaper on (tile floors)....after a few accidents she'd run to the potty and go. She was fully trained at 22 months, with the exception of night time accidents, so I kept her in a diaper over night until she was about 3.  Took her a while to learn to wake herself up. She was really easy to train, hopefully DD2 will be the same...but who knows?! I've heard boys are harder.

  • We tried to train DS at 24 months. He was not ready. He didn't get that it was a good thing to go in the potty and it was stressing him out. We tried again at 30 months and had it completely down in 5 days. We did cold turkey no diapers. At 33 months he is still the first of his friends to be potty trained.

  • We did the 3 day method at 26 months and it went very well (though in reality it took 6 days, but I'm not complaining).
