temperature; it comes in attractive containers; and the cat can't get

I saw it posted on another board. Totally heartbreaking. I had it in my file that I did not want forceps used, even though my hospital very rarely uses them...we have a family friend whose older twin brother had a severe injury (and resulting cerebral palsy) when the OB used forceps to speed up the delivery.

That just evokes anger and sadness all at the same time. That was basically my only "birth plan" request...NO forceps. And that was due to a friends DD being born with a scratch on her eye from them. Her eye was permanently damaged...it hasnt grown and she is legally blind in that eye.

My friend had an awful forceps delivery 4 years ago. Baby had bruises but my friend had a 4th degree tear. She is due with #2 this summer and is begging for a scheduled c section.

My friend posted this the other day and I opened it and cried my eyes out. So sad. My mama used to work as a NICU nurse and has told me some horrific birth stories over the years. Ugh, just ugh. :-S

My sister had a forceps delivery with her first. She had a huge head. She had red marks on her face for a few days, but no serious consequences. My sister was torn ten ways from Tuesday, though.
Second baby came in a few hours, four pushes, no tearing. Your friend might be surprised, although I completely understand her trepidation.
I can't read this. They attempted to use forceps to get A out. There was just no way he could fit through. He ended up with a tear on his ear but thank god that was all.
I don't think that I can read this but DH was telling me about it. It makes me so sad. When I was in the delivery room with E - I pushed for over 4 hours and she wasn't budging. The attending OB asked if I wanted a c-section or for them to try to use the forceps. I was out of it and said forceps because I wanted to deliver her as naturally as I could and partly because I was terrified of surgery. I remember DH looking at me like I was nuts. Luckily, the OB wasn't comfortable with that and brought in someone else for a second opinion. They decided that a c-section was the better alternative. I am sooooo thankful.
Saw this on Facebook and because I work in the NICU, I see delivery accidents at least once or twice a year. I haven't seen a forceps one this bad, but many, many babies with brain hemorrhages from vacuum extractions. So scary, and so sad for the families. Obviously we don't know what the timing was like, or what was going on in that delivery room. Just a horrible situation all around.
