C-sections

3 c sections?

Hi all, I'm have just had my second c section with my daughter, I'm 25 and not sure if it's just because I have a new baby now but I'm thinking I still want another baby in future. Is it safe or possible to have 3 c sections?

I will enjoy my daughter growing up a big first before I consider another child just want to know if having 3 c sections is a possibility or will it damage my body to much?

Re: 3 c sections?

  • My mom had 3 csections. We are having baby number 2 csection. Also, planning on a 3rd in future. I think you should be fine unless your doctor said otherwise.

  • So if you have a third you will have to have baby c section as you've already had 2? That right? X
  • Did you Dr say anything to you about NOT having another c-section ?

I have had three and as far as I know I my body isn't damaged because of it.

While my Dr was performing my third c/s, he said there was a lot of scar tissue, but he cleaned it up and said there shouldn't be a problem with me having another one.
  • Oh ok, no no one said that I was unable to have any more or I couldn't carry etc Iv been told on different occasions u have to be really careg after having 2 I just wouldn't wanna put harm to my self or a 3 rd child if was 2 dangerous.
I'm not looking at trying again till prob this time next year but thought I'd question now xx

    Thanks everyone x
  • My doc has told me that she would prefer this third one to be my last b/c 1) the amount of scar tissue from my last 2. 2) I have been sick- very sick- the whole pregnancy. Not c/s related but just my body not coping well with the stress of pregnancy. For this reason, I will be having a tubal this time and honestly, I'm looking forward to it! So no, unless your doc has given you a medical reason, there is usually no reason to stop you having 3 or even 4 c/s. Ive heard some docs don't like doing more than 4 but again... that varies.

  • As long as you doc didn't say something you should be fine. I just had my 3rd in August. At that time they discovered a window in my uterus and I was specifically told that this will be my last kid.

I think it's a case by case basis so as long as your OB didn't advise against it I would think you would be fine.
  • My OB did not bat an eye when I showed up PG for the third time, so I am guessing 3+ sections is relatively common.
  • A friend of mine has had 3 without an issue.

No, women can try for a VBAC after two CS. It really depends on the provider and what the CS were for.

Your chance if uterine rupture is higher, but is about 1%, so not a huge risk overall https://vbacfacts.com/2008/06/18/rupture-rate-10-for-vba2c-with-prior-vaginal-birth-within-one-year-of-last-cesarean/

  • Ok thank you everyone. I'm going to be speaking with my doctor at my 6 week check.
    :)
  • I had my third 8 weeks ago and during the c my doctor said everything looked great if I want a fourth.
  • I had my 3rd C/S almost 4 weeks ago and my doctor said all looked good if we wanted 1 or 2 more children (we aren't planning on any more, but nice to know)
  • This is my 3rd pregnancy and I am going to try to VBA2C but the doctor didn't even mention any concerns about a result in a 3rd c/s. From most of what I've seen, the concern goes up at 4.
