1st IVF BCP experiences

Hello! I am new to this board and have a question someone may be able to help me answer. We are preparing for our first round of IVF with unexplained infertility. I was put on the BCP. I was told that I was going to be doing the standard procedure and we are going in next week to get our schedule. I began the pill on Dec 23rd on the 1st day of my period as instructed and I have continued to have bleeding, heavier than spotting, going on 14 days. I typically have regular periods so this is strange to me and when I called they told me to wait until the appointment and we would talk about it. Anyone else have this happen or know why it may be happening? Thank you!

I had heavy spotting/break through bleeding while on the pill with IVF #1. It was annoying but nothing to worry about.

I always bleed/spot the entire time I'm on BCP. My nurse said it was normal and that it happens to some women. Good luck!!!

I had light bleeding the entire time when I went on the pill for IVF. I think it was because they put me on a generic brand, vs. I had been on different low or no estrogen brands before IVF. It did not effect my cycle.

Thanks for the feedback. It is just annoying and strange. I was worried that it would make my ovulation later or something. We shall see what happens next month.

Once you begin the IVF meds, they will suppress ovulation.

Just like everyone that posted, I spotted and heavily spotted while on BCP prior to IVF. I was worried it would affect something, but was assured by my RE and nurse that, while spotting is annoying, it won't do anything. It'll stop once you start stims.
