---Best/Worst Part of The New Year---

Kind of along the lines of best/worst part about The Holidays thread we did a couple weeks back, what is the worst/best thing about a new year... BESIDES having to re-learn muscle memory to write/type 2014.

Worst: Sadly my puppy Husky calendar at work is no longer valid. I have no puppies in my cubicle.

Best: Finally getting to be able to look at my last paycheck and see how much I really made this year. Makes me sort of feel accomplished.

Best: I love resolutions!!! Having new goals and feeling like it's a time for a fresh start is exciting to me, I don't care if that's lame.

Worst: I don't really have a worst yet... IDK. Well, we didn't do anything on NYE because of the baby and DH having to work the next day, and DH did fall asleep at 10:15pm. So I was by myself all night. That was kind of boring and lonely. But I'm used to that- he's just not a night person.

Best--my paid time off at work gets reset! Between doctor's appointments and maternity leave last year, I didn't really have any to go do something fun with.

Worst--My health insurance deductible that I paid last year is no longer good! So instead of paying $40 for DS's kidney ultrasound checkup, I will have to pay full price which is over $300.

@kimberlymacrae I get just the opposite feeling when I look at how much I made last year--I feel shame because I don't know where most of it went haha!

Best: DH has been home for the past 2 weeks on Christmas break!!!!!!

Worst: I go back to work Monday

Worst: going back to work

I really loved being home on maternity leave and absolutely hate leaving my baby all day. I miss her every minute I'm away! But I love what I do, I love my coworkers and I love the agency I'm a part of. These past two days have been awesome and awful at the same time. It was hard going to work yesterday morning. And then tonight it was hard leaving work (I mean, come on... we tapped a keg at noon...I was having some long-overdue fun!).

Worst- packing to move into a new home and unpacking when we get in. Not looking forward to it with a clingy baby!

BEST: As @HBirdie and @Violet1372 said, I like the reset function of the new year. I post a lot on 43things, and I always take extra time at the new year to think about my goals, and what is/is not working in my life.

WORST: I go back to work on Monday.

This is my best too! I Hate residency. I vetoed fellowship for at least a year because I want to have some normal schedule time.

Worst: celebrating New Year's Eve alone and exhausted because H is on nights. Then going back to work on the 2nd feeling more tired than before my break.

@whitneylux Pediatrics. It's an "easy" one and I still hate it! What about you? He wants to do a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics fellowship.

Every year I hear "it gets better". My eye roll at this comment gets bigger and bigger every year. Do you think fellowship will be better for you and your fam?

@janelleashu: neurosurgery. 7 long years in residency and now 2 years in an endovascular fellowship.

I'm tired of not having a life and being alone all the time. It will make my H happy so I'm for it but I'm ready for him to start practicing and then we can finally settle somewhere.

@whitneylux whew! you are a saint. It's really really tough to be with a Dr. during residency. 7 years is SO long. Loneliness is definitely my biggest issue with it.
