S.O.B (shortness of breath)????

I am 14 weeks and 4 days... and I am not sure if I am having shortness of breath or what! It almost feels like the onset of an anxiety attack... I try walking, standing, laying down or just anything I can to change what ever position I am in to try to relieve it, but nothing helps.

I have had some issues with tachycardia in the pregnancy already, the doctor was not overly concerned with it at this point.

Just curious if this is normal, I did not experience anything like this with my pregnancies with my boys that I can remember...

Re: S.O.B (shortness of breath)????

  • I hd shortness of breath early, like from 8 weeks forward, but it was mostly induced by walking up stairs and things like that.  It was always relieved with rest.  Is it possible you actually are having an anxiety attack?  How long does it take for you to feel better?

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

  • I have a hx of anxiety attacks but I usually have the tachycardia with an anxiety attack when I do have them. I am having the shortness of breath minus the tachycardia and it will happen while I am sitting still or lying down. I go back to my High Risk next Thursday it is something I am going to ask her about. It was just something new that has started and the twin pregnancy being something VERY new, I didn't know if it was one of the normals.

  • Early in this pregnancy I thought I was suddenly having issues with my asthma because I felt like I could never catch my breath. Didn't matter if I was moving or resting. I tried different inhalers thinking it was my asthma, but when they made no difference then all I could come up with was that my body was adjusting to the new oxygen needs from the pregnancy. It eased up eventually, but now at 29 weeks it is back. Ugh. I'd get it checked to be sure, but for me with an asthmatic background (normally totally under control with no medicine), it *feels* to me like my body is just adjusting to the demand.
  • Thanks! I don't have any asthma in my background. It is defiantly something that freaked me out a bit.

I feel like a FTM because I have forgotten so much in 8 years and things are so different with this pregnancy anyways.

Thanks so much for your help!

  • I had shortness of breath starting at about 12 weeks. It's even worse now. I feel like I'm deep breathing after just walking to the bathroom (and I just ran a half marathon in July).

  • I think it's pretty normal and it sucks but I think I remember it getting a little better - or maybe you just get used to it.
  • This makes me happy to hear, I thought I was just really puny and out of shape lol!

  • I didn't have a clue what was going on.... lol... just catches you off guard glad it is normal

  • I've had SOB since very early on. It kinda caught me off guard bc I was running regularly and in great shape even into the first couple of months of my pregnancy. I've had to slow down a lot but I still try to be active. Every time I walk up the stairs I'm out of breath and my heart it pounding. I wasn't like this until much much later with DD.
