37 weeks down... No end in sight! (rant)

UGH!!!! I am SO sick of being pregnant! I'm starting to think these babies will actually stay 3 more weeks! How can they possibly be comfortable in there!? I know the longer they are inside the better. This pregnancy has been incredibly uneventful and continues to be so. I'm healthy, the babies are healthy, but I'm ready to meet my kids and start the next chapter. I am so exhausted and heavy. I started swelling more recently and it's not fun. My legs, ankles, toes, hands, and wrists feel like they're hot and constantly throbbing. They're so stiff. The babies movements are ridiculous and my stomach really hurts. Not to mention, although I am about to mention it, I think I'm getting a cold or something. I'm congested and have a headache and I'm sleeping like I did the 1st tri. I'm sick of the aches and pains, I want a glass of wine (ok more like 3). I want to sleep on my stomach, I want to see my babies... Why won't they listen and come out already?!? *sigh*

  • Wow! 37 weeks is awesome! I feel your pain and I am only 30 weeks. You are so close. Have you been told if they will induce you?

Also, the sickness thing makes me nervous. I just came down with this nasty cold and am miserable! But, what are we gonna do? I hope you start feeling better very soon!!!

  • You can do it!  I was so miserable at the end I was literally living on Ambien to sleep and Zofran for the constant nausea.  I finally was induced at 39w4d and delivered at 40w but everyone was healthy and we all came home from the hospital together 24 hours after delivery.

  • You've done great, mama! Hang in there...they'll be here soon!
Though I can only imagine and I'm sure I'll be feeling similarly at 37+ weeks if I get there. You can do it!

  • I could have written this myself, and I'm only 35 weeks. I'm hoping to go to 37+ and out of Xmas range but if that wasn't a concern, I'd be hoping for no more than 10 days. How long will your doc let you go? Mine just said 39 weeks and I wanted to punch him.

  • My doc will let me go as long as necessary if there are no health complications (so far there have been none). She has no problem with letting me go 40+. I do hope this little cold or congestion does indicate approaching labor! At my last appt. the doc said my cervix had softened but that was it. I have my next appt. in an hour or so, hopefully there has been progress!!! I was hoping they would come before Christmas so they didn't have to share their birthday with Jesus, but I don't think they're taking my advice! Thanks for the reassuring words ladies, I hope their lings are good and strong when they do decide to show!
  • You are some strong women!! That is awesome that you have made it so far.. I don't look forward to getting to that point, but hope that I do so the babies are strong and healthy..

  • Aw, hang in there. I remember those days of just barely being able to roll out of bed thinking that being beaten would probably feel better. But big healthy babies will be a good reward for all this pain and suffering, congrats on making it to the final stretch.

  • DW will be 37w this week too.

We have the C-section scheduled for Jan 6th (which is like 38w3d or something). Both the OB and the MFM docs have told us that we will not be going past that date.

They actually said that the placenta starts to break down for twins after 38w, the same sort of breakdown that happens with a singleton after 40w. So they were not going to let us go very far past 38w.

Both babies were measuring well after the two growth scans though, and at the last two MFM appts the doc said the babies could have come then and been fine.

But yeah, DW hit the wall last week basically. Her feet hurt, her back hurts, and she can't sit on the floor with DS any more. Contractions are starting to wake her up in the middle of the night too.

  • Hang in there! I made it to 37w3 and I know it's rough at the end.

  • I was so sick at the end and delivered at 39 wks 4 days. It was so hard on my body and I was miserable. But the positive was I had two healthy babies that were both over 6 lbs and never saw the inside of the NICU. Good luck they will be here before you know it.
  • Well ladies, I was induced at 38 weeks. The labor was long, hard and annoying. With that, I must congratulate the women who deliver without medication, I was quite certain I was not going to survive as I waited for an epidural (I don't know how women go through that more than once!). Anyway, I labored about 3 hours before the epidural came. B efore then, I had been on Pitocin for 12 hours and hit the highest dosage and didn't feel a thing. Suddenly, shortly after they gave me the pitocin, I lost my mucus plug and my water broke (WHOA wasn't that a surprise! lol) Once I got the epidural I began to shake uncontrollably, that lasted for hours! Baby B didn't like the epidural and her heart rate began to go crazy, it would drop severely then shoot up really high! This happened multiple times within the hours. The staff was concerned that her cord was wrapped and stopped my contractions in hope she would rest and recover. Unfortunately her heart rate dropped and rose again 2 more times and it was decided to do an emergency C-section. After 4 hours of active labor I had a c-sec and delivered 2 beautiful, happy, healthy babies!! Christopher Robert Alexander was born 12/28 at 3:35am, weighing 6.5lbs. Keira Marie was born 12/28 at 3:37am, weighing 4.7lbs. She is so teeny, but mighty! No NICU time, they came directly to the room with me and stayed with me the entire time. They are amazing and beautiful and it is so funny to see their personalities outside of the womb!
  • Congratulations!! So proud of you :)

  • Hang in there! I hope I will be going as long as you :)
  • I went into labor at 38 weeks 1 day and had a csection that night because of pre-e. I remember the feeling of just not wanting to be pregnant anymore. I hurt all over. It will all be over soon and then a new kind of hurt will start. :)
