Babies: 3 - 6 Months

annoyed

I feel terrible for saying this...but when my daughter fusses at night I get so annoyed! She doesn't really cry. It's more like a whine and it seriously bugs me. We went from sleeping well to sleeping horribly and I know that is typical for this age but my goodness am I starting to lose it.
I have entered the land of I seriously need a beer but I can't because DD nurses every hour.

Also, because I realize how this sounds, yes I do respond quickly to all her cries.

Re: annoyed

  • Like pp - enjoy a beer or two! It will not affect lo.

  • One beer won't hurt, I have also heard it can help your supply? (Not sure though, never tried it because I hate beer). Hang in there, hopefully your LO gets back on track soon.

  • I'm having a beer tonight, then!
    No, I don't. I'm a single mom.

  • hang in there and have a beer - I'm in a similar situation with our little guy, he's 4 months old and his sleeping has been all kinds of disorganized lately.  I just cling to the hope that this is a phase he will eventually grow out of it!

  • Bless you for being a single mom! I totally understand about the fussing getting on your nerves. I feel exactly the same and try to remind myself this too shall pass.
  • I too feel frustrated and annoyed when LO won't stay asleep. When this happens I just suck it up and let him cuddle on my lap in his glider. I try to remind myself that he won't be this small forever, he will sleep better in time, and so will I. Although in the moment when you're exhausted it's really hard to calm down and another get emotional. You are not alone! At one point my LO was waking up 10+ times a night just to comfort nurse back to sleep!

No, it can actually hurt your supply.  However, it is considered perfectly safe to have one drink every so often while breastfeeding.
