Crazy Nesting?

I have been cleaning until I am worn out (doesn't take long, haha). I got the crazy urge that I NEEDED to paint the house before the baby gets here because the walls were dirty. I picked up paint samples and had them up on the wall before my husband got home. Luckily he is indulging my "need" and not fighting it. He has already sanded and painted the spindles and railing for me and next on the list is the bathroom cabinets and walls! Anyone else have a crazy nesting NEED?

Re: Crazy Nesting?

  • I worked all day today on cleaning the house, working on things in the nursery, putting some things in the diaper bag. I'm definitely right there with ya! Would've kept going tonight but I overdid it today and really needed to rest.

  • Yes, definitely. I've been sewing up a storm, washing all the new baby items, rearranging the cabinets, freezing meals, obsessing over the hospital bag, reading about pregnancy, labor and newborn care nonstop.... It never ends!!
  • Most definitely! I have been cleaning and organizing all week, my house is so clean I love it, but I'm so sore and tired by the end of the day.
  • I went on a cleaning spree but am paying for it now. So sore!

  • I get it on small little spurts. I dido age to clean out two closets the other day and the nursery is put together now so that's something. Haven't quite hit painting wall status though :)
  • Yup! Cleaning out closets, doing lots of projects, including starting a scrapbook for the little one, making freezer meals, washing and organizing baby clothes :) all so much fun! Glad I got the nesting urge this time because I never had it with DD1!

I wish I was. I still have so much to do, but with working 40 hours a week with constant standing and walking, I am way to tired when I get home and my two days off. On my first day off I try to relax, then the second day off it's always dr appts and errands. Luckily my DH has done most of the nursery for me, but now I've got all the decorating, washing, organizing, packing hospital bag, and so on. Ugh, so overwhelmed. :(

THIS is EXACTLY my situation! I am so tired after work that I can barely change and hobble to bed much less feed myself or get anything accomplished on my giant "to do" list. My 2 days off are consumed by appointment and errands. I don't know how I'm going to get everything done before LO arrives :(
  • I have EVERYTHING done and I am soooooooo ready to have this baby. That of course means, naturally, she will be late. :)

That's how I feel too! Lol. All my kids were early and this pregnancy has been the hardest so she will probably be late. Must be a girl thing. ;)

I think little girls take their time to get ready for just about everything ;)
  • It hit pretty late for me, nothing was done until about a week ago. Since then we have organized, cleaned, cooked freezer meals, set up baby equipment, packed hospital bags etc. I haven't been sleeping much because this all occurs after I get home from work and put DS1 to bed. I'm 37 weeks Wednesday so I suppose it was about time!

I emptied the dishwasher the other day...which led to scrubbing the counters....which led to washing the outside of the fridge....which led to scrubbing cabinet doors. If DH hasn't been home, I would have kept going. Oops.

I did this, exactly, a couple days ago.
I soaked and scrubbed everything in my kitchen that could be submerged in water.

  • I have small bursts of energy where I actually get some cleaning done. I'm too exhausted to do anything else.

Around 20 weeks I got the urge to paint...so I painted our hallway and had planned to do the living room and kitchen, but I gave up. Now it just looks stupid because the hallway is a different color from everything else. Hubs is tired of painting (he did DD's big girl room and the nursery) and wont do it for me ;)

  • Had hardcore urges to get things ready back in the fall.  Couldn't work on the nursery yet so did some serious cleaning everywhere else in the house.  I was really nervous for what I mess I'd be when we got closer.  Now I think of nesting and am like "eh, good enough."

  • The nesting instict is is full force, but I'd say it's been going on for over 3 years since we bought a fixer-upper. This year alone we tore down our old garage shop in April, mostly finished building the new one in October, and now we're wrapping up remodeling almost the entire bottom floor.

I spent the weekend unpacking boxes, washing baby stuff, putting away baby stuff, getting the car seat set up correctly in the car and started packing my hospital bag. I'm going to buy the last of the baby essentials at Target tonight since my registry completion discount card came in and DH is assembling the crib tonight, so we should be pretty much done with the nursery and most of the downstairs project in general by this weekend if all goes according to plan. After that, it's just cleaning, taking care of thank-you notes and hopefully catching up precious sleep while I still can.

  • Oh and I buy baskets. I have a basket for everything now. Hats, gloves, remotes, living room toys, knitting supplies, stationary... DH actually said "I know you're nesting but all the baskets are fucking crazy".

  • Can never have enough baskets!!!!

Oh goodness this is me, too. I'm planning on getting four of these type of stackable baskets this week for our hats and gloves on the porch.. each family member will have their own basket.. and I have been dreaming about this longingly for weeks.

There are a few things that I want to have happen before the baby comes (IE: dust cobwebs in our bedroom, clean the microwave and freezer) but I don't want to DO them. So I have a secret list that is going to find its way to the kitchen counter when I go into labor. "Things to do before Amber comes home with Baby."

  • I remember with my first somehow, right near the end coming up with the energy to clean the entire house in one day. Still hasn't happened yet. I've got more of a 'Meh' feeling. Like I've got a car seat & diapers- we should be fine. My DH on the other hand is doing things like pulling all the furniture out and cleaning the basement. So maybe I don't need to Nest this time?

I NEED baskets!! I need a few for my changing table. Did you find them at Home Goods? If not, where? I went to Michaels crafts last week and they had none. I got a few at my baby shower from BRU and they are horrible. And apparently they are painted white with a really cheap paint and they are chipping so much that I've got pieces of them all over the place. It is driving me nuts!
