Anybody with stuffed animals?

Ty is a snuggler. We tried lovies and they won't due. So I am thinking of doing a small stuffed animal.

Btdt or current done that, anyone?

  • Kaylee had a tiny little Winnie the Pooh that she loved and went everywhere with us. I kept telling H that we had to find another because at some point he was going to bite the dust and we were going to be screwed. Eventually, I found one, and bought 2. I was so excited. Then I got them home and set them next to her original. Wow. After so many washes and general kid abuse, they didn't even look like the same baby. Lol. Point of my drawn out story, she was a cuddly baby, still is cuddly. And, the stuffed animal was great. It grew to an adorable turtle that she slept with when she got to be like 3, he was a little bigger.
  • I have two stuffed animals in the crib. I also have a nice blanket in there for him to cuddle with.
  • I posted in FFFC about Arlo's crib being a SIDS nightmare. He has a lovie like animal and a large stuffed shark. The stuffed shark is a pillow pets and it's so soft.

  • Abby will not sleep at daycare unless she is holding onto one of those soft books. Usually she puts it over her face. Daycare was surprised she didn't do it at home. I sometimes let her nap with a lovey at home but never a full blown stuffed animal.
  • My LO had a little Elmo that she loves. I think it might be because she's attracted to the color.
  • @phishgirl29 I love all things Gund!! And @nix55 the color thing is a great point

  • B has a little stuffed animal. He started snuggling it while nursing, and that was awesome because it kept him from pinching me so much. If he is holding on to it, I let him take it to bed with him- but I pull it away from him before I go to bed. He keeps it away from his face anyway, so I'm not really concerned. Oh and we change up the actual stuffed animal all the time- I don't want him attached to a particular one- just in case of loss or scarlet fever or something (I was scarred by the Velveteen Rabbit).

I made sure we chose loveys for both boys that were cheap and easily available! Makes it so much easier to replace when lost...I have back ups hidden in the closet just in case. You could do the same with a stuffie!

  • I've mentioned before the beany boos. They're the perfect baby sized stuffed animal. Now she has a glowing musical sea horse that she cuddles every night. I think anything not too big or floppy is fine.

LO has lovies and stuffed animals he plays with. We will let him nap with the lovies if we are right there, but nothing goes into his crib at night except him in his sleep sack and his pacifier. (And he often throws that through the crib slats, and it ends up on the floor.)
  • I'm not btdt, but I would say go with your gut. If you think he's mature enough, go for it. This should have been my FFFC but all this week since M has been sick she has been sleeping on the nursing pillow in her crib. I started by elevating the mattress, but she would just slide down. I wake up all the time and check on her (just the paranoid side of me) but the rational side doesn't really worry. She can move herself around her crib quite freely now. I've often watched her roll onto her belly and stick her face flat into the mattress. As soon as she realizes it's difficult to breathe (and she's not waking up for this either) she moves her head to the side or rolls back over. It's the natural reaction you would expect and I know she would do the same with the pillow.

  • O-man has a blanket with a monster head attached.... best of both worlds.  he loves snuggling the head and chewing on it's horns.
