Trying to walk=Falling A LOT

Anyone else seem to be constantly falling? DD falls and hits her head at least 3 times a day! I feel like she's going to have brain damage!!

YES!  DS has been walking really well for about awhile, but at the beginning it was awful - so many bumps on the head.  He still falls now and then but his head rarely hits now, thankfully.

Also, our LO's share a birthday!

  • MJ is much better now. She has been walking for about 3 weeks. She fell all the time when she was first learning. She also falls more when she is tired.

  • DD isn't even walking yet, but she manages to bump her head multiple times a day!  She's still butt-scooting (starting to pull up, and she will take steps if I hold her hands or under her armpits), but she's pretty reckless.

I was the same way.  I'd run around and literally bounce off walls and keep going.  I was always covered in bruises, and now my knees are nothing but scar tissue from all the spills I took.  So it's looking my my poor kid is going to grow up with more than a few battle scars since she has my fair, sensitive skin and a daredevil attitude. ;-)

  • DD always falls on her butt. I can tell that she actively avoiding falling when she is walking and doesn't attempt to walk without holding onto something unless she is sure that she has minimal chances of falling.

When she first started cruising however she bumped her head a bit. DC2London reccomended arnica.

  • Ds falls a lot. But he has an eye issue that causes double vision, so I think he gets dizzy. But my child is covered in bruises.
  • In a course I just took about atypical development of walking (I am a Physical therapist) they presented a study which tracked typically developing kids learning to walk. They found that kids learning to walk fall on average 100 times per day and crawl/motor around the equivalent of 12000 steps! Crazy! That must be why my lo is hungry all.the.time!
