Help me find a purse / diaper bag

We are flying end of February, I currently have a Coach small tote that I use as my diaper bag but it won't be big enough for my purse / diaper bag on the plane.  We are already checking a bag so I don't have to carry bottles, toys etc.

Can you recommend a large enough purse / tote but small enough to use when we are in Florida.  Oh and price is an issue too.  Since I already have a diaper bag for home I don't want to spend a lot of money on this one.  Thinking under $100.  In the carryon - juice box, a few snacks, Nook, camera and wallet. So not much but the camera takes up a lot of space

I'm going nuts!  I love the Kate Spade Stevie that a lot of you have but I'm not ready to spend that much on a 3rd diaper bag / purse.

This is what I have now:

I know it isn't really what you are asking but I highly recommend a backpack. My H got a diaper bag backpack as a gift and it was so nice having our hands completely free, without worrying about straps sliding off our shoulders and K getting into it, that we went out and bought a nicer backpack for our most recent flight. It also holds a lot more weight comfortably. If you do get a 'normal' bag, get one that zips completely closed. I always recommend this for carryons so your stuff doesn't spill everywhere when you shove it under the seat in front of you on the plane, though I prefer it anyway so crap doesn't go everywhere when you drop it, your kid can't pull stuff out, and it is safer from theft.
    Honestly, I didn't even think of a backpack, that's a great idea

Honestly, since you already have 2, I would go check out tj maxx, etc. I got a skip hop one there for $12, but then I'm cheap.
I'm going to check out TJ Maxx, thanks

Can you recommend yours? I've seen a lot of Carters bags that look good for the flight too

  • I have the green and brown giraffe print one and love it. Its been the I that i use everyday when out and about as well. It had a plastic liner but that started breaking about 9 months in I i cut it all out but the bag still works. There is lots of room for everything and its not to bulky to carry around and fits really well under the stroller as well. It also fits nicely under the seat in front of you on the plane

I also recommend a backpack. We recently switched to a backpack and it makes life so much easier. I got a nice LL Bean backpack for $15 at the outlet store.

  • +3 on the back pack when flying. Much easier lugging through the airport then a purse. I packed my purse/diaper bag in the suit case and used the backpack for airport and in Disney. I have the Skip Hop changing pad station that holds the diapers and wipes with the changing pad in carrying case - this was a blessing on our Disney vacation. I just grabbed the whole case out of the backpack and took only that to the bathroom for changes in the airport and at Disney.

  • Omg yes!! Totally get a backpack for the airport travel! So easy for travel with a LO and im not a backpack kinda girl.

  • When we travel by plane, I use my Lowepro backpack -- camera stuff on the bottom and baby stuff on top.  Sometimes I throw some baby stuff in the bottom with the camera stuff, too.

My fancy diaper bag was one of my biggest regret purchases, especially since I have seen some really nice ones at the consignment shop in town.  If I were you and needed something for a very limited purpose like a single trip, I would start at one of those.

I'm cheap so I never bought a diaper bag. Before DS was born, I looked in my closet and decided to use my Eddie Bauer backpack (bought at an outlet) as my diaper bag. Been using it for over a year and still have no issues. Not sure why I would ever need or want a 'diaper' bag. It is a muddy green color so DH has no qualms carrying it when he has to.
