PSA potential tax break for breastfeeding/pumping supplies

Hi. I have lurked here since Summer but wanted to become active. I hope you ladies will accept me :) My sister sent me this article it discusses a potential tax break on breast feeding and pumping supplies.     You have to itemize and have >7.5% of your adjusted gross income in unreimbursed medical expenses to be able to write this off. It's not new.. It went into effect for the 2010 tax year.

    Good info, even if it isn't new. I hadn't even thought about itemizing that.
    Do you know what's all included as eligible for the tax break @vitaluna? Just the breast pump and accessory parts? Or lanolin, breast pads, storage bags, etc?

    I doubt I'll have enough medical to claim, but I'm still curious. :)

    I'm not sure. It sounds like bottles/bags may be included (I believe the wording is "supplies that assist lactation", or something like that). I also just read (while looking for what was included) that it was bumped up to >10% for 2013.

    Ooh that would be nice, it's all in the wording I guess. ;)

    I'll never be able to claim enough for 10% though. That's crazy!

    I know... If my OOP medical expenses were >10% of our AGI, I'd have more things to worry about than writing my pump off!
