Birth Story: Maddox

I went to my 38 week appointment and got told to go home and pack my bags because he was sending me in to be induced that day due to a low AMF.
This was New Year's Eve.
I went home, packed all my stuff (way too much) and headed for the hospital. My husband met me there shortly after.
They started me on an IV.. And they started and stopped pitocin 4 times!
I didn't really start feeling contractions until they broke my water (felt like hot tub temperature water.) 10:30 pm 12/31 hell began with active labour. They gave me some medication through my IV called staydoll? I know the spelling isn't correct, sorry.
That drug made me so high, I couldn't stop laughing even when they were giving me the epidural. They had to stop multiple times because I was laughing so hard. DH said the doctor doing the epidural on me hung out for a but after he had placed it in just because it was a slow night and I was extremely amusing.
I remember not being able to control myself from having the shakes. 3 hours after the epidural, I felt so much pressure down there, that I was begging to push. My nurse at the time told me to wait. It was now 730 am, New Year's Day, when I started to push. It felt SO good to push! At 8 am on the dot Maddox entered this world with a smirk on his face. He weighed 6 pounds 6 oz and measured 18.5 inches. He is the perfect mix of me and his daddy.

I had no tears and didn't need any stitches. My OB stretched me out with his fingers and told me when to push to prevent any rips from occurring. My swelling is almost completely gone being 4 days PP now. I did have an issue with my epidural not working as much as I thought it would. And, after everything was done, now I'm having huge back issues.

Maddox has jaundice. I haven't been active the past few days cuz I've been so busy with him. We had to take him to his pediatrician yesterday because his billi was a 10.7. He lost almost a whole pound in 2 days, so I've been told to supplement my nursing with formula during night time hours.
