And the teething begins!

So I think? How do you know that your LO is teething?

Autumn has been fussier than she's ever been the last 2-3 days and today she starting like shouting while gnawing on her fists. It seems to be an "I'm imcomfortable" kind of shouting. Last time she did this was when she had a rash all over and was itchy (reaction to aveeno baby eczema lotion) so I know it's not that again. No sign of any teeth yet though but I'm trying to find ways to help her relieve the discomfort like chewing a cold wash cloth, chewing her Vulli, I tried putting a little pressure on her gums with my finger in the wash cloth and tried a cold teether until I can get those homeopathic teething drops tomorrow.

Just wondering what works for you, is there something you reccomend and how do you know it's teething?

Hey maybe this is a good chance to give the amber necklace theory a go ;) lol

Re: And the teething begins!

  • Everyone keeps asking me if E if teething because he is drooling like crazy (yay another reason to need a bib 24/7 on top of the reflux) and gnawing on his hands, toys, me, etc. constantly.

I've looked and felt his gums and I see no signs of teeth so I guess he's just being a drooly, curious baby.

So, I guess I'm no help, but good luck with the fussiness.

  • I agree that softer toys are good now, even though they want to chew on everything because they tend to chew until it really hurts them. I recently found that those soft foam bath letters make excellent teethers. We didn't have them for DD because she was too little to play with them, but DS LOVES them. He chewed on one for 15 minutes straight yesterday.

Chey has been enjoying the exact same things to chew on, with the addition of Sophie in small intervals. Sometimes we just let her gnaw on her index finger because she gets frusterated as it's easier in the car.

  • Just saw this post. I posted about my LO teething after you. Oops. DD has been chewing her hands, crying and barely sleeping. She was a good(ish) sleeper up until Christmas but now she barely naps, wakes up crying and is up most of the night. She's been super drooly too. Her tooth just popped out this morning ands she's only 3 months. I went to the store and bought every teething thing they sold (rings, gels, drops, powder). I gave her a little tylonol tonight in hopes it'll give her a decent few hours rest, poor girl. I'll take the cold wash cloth suggestion. Not sure if there's much else I can do? Oh, and I let her knaw on my finger. A little painful but if she's happy then it's worth it.
  • I was in denial that DS was starting to teeth until my mother commented on the way he was drooling and chewing on everything. Apparently my first tooth appeared the day I turned 3 months. As of right now it doesn't bother him all the but he has bad days. DS does much better with softer chew things.
