Multiples

Intro!!! Having fraternal twins. :)

Hi ladies! I just wanted to introduce myself! I am Sara and I live in Denver, CO with my husband. We found out October 1st we are pregnant and found out last Wednesday it is fraternal twins!! They do run in my family but we are still shocked. A little scared, very nervous, and also getting excited! Due date is June 11 which makes me 10 1/2 weeks. I am also type-1 diabetic so I will be floating between June 2014, Multiples, and High Risk. I'm excited to have y'all here as a support system and people to answer my many questions. We don't have any friends or family with twins so this is all new to us, not to mention this is our first pregnancy. So far, I'm having wicked morning sickness, occasional and short-lasting cramps, crazy food cravings and aversions, hip and back pain, sore boobs, and some mood swings. So nice to meet you all and I look forward to getting to know y'all!

  • tootsscott, good point. I believe you're right!

SaraMee, just FYI (in case you don't know--because I didn't know this when I first found out), Di/Di doesn't always mean they are fraternal twins.  If the egg splits early enough the two eggs can attach at different places and form their own placentas and sacs.  You won't know they are fraternal until the anatomy scan and that is only if they are boy/girl.  Other than that you have to wait until they are born and start looking different.  I told EVERYONE they were fraternal, then read that information and had to re-tell everyone the new info.

Yep, ditto this! I'm sure there's a good change your twins are actually fraternal since they run on your maternal side... buuuut, you never know for sure until either the anatomy scan or after they're born. I found out my di/di girls were identical when they were 4 months old. Good luck to you!

  • Hi!  First time mom-to-be here, too, with fraternal twins due 6/25/14!  Husband and I moved to Denver 2 months ago from the east coast.  We are so excited!
  • Congrats and welcome to all!  Don't be scared.  They don't bite...until they get teeth!!!
