Ovulating after stopping BC

I am new to the board and it feels like forever since we were TTC our last one so please forgive me!! We just decided last week we were ready to try for #2 starting next month. So long story short, how soon after stopping the pill could one ovulate? I was on the mini pill because I am nursing and I know that means the hormones are much lower than usual BC pills and my MW told me if I miss one pill then I need to use back up because it isn't like usual BC pills. Does that mean I could ovulate pretty quickly after stopping the pill?

Some people do and some people don't. There is no way I can tell you if you did. I suggest charting and temping.

Well obviously you can't tell if I did...I am asking whether stopping BC can possibly trigger immediate ovulation.

If the medical advice is to use backup BC if you miss 1 pill, then obviously it's possible.

Well I don't know if that advice means you ovulate right away or you ovulate a week regardless of whether you start taking your pill again correctly....

Probably also depends on when in your cycle you missed a pill or stopped taking them.

It's been 8 months for me and I still haven't ovulated. Just found out I have pcos, so hopefully your case is different! GL!

Thanks ladies!! I have been on BC my whole life, except when I got PG so I have no idea what a regular cycle even looks like. I seriously thought I would ovulate 2 weeks after I stopped BC, like exactly...doesn't make sense now that I think about it...

Thanks so much! I will do that. I need to do some research on charting, I saw they have something about it on the newbie blog. I thought the mini pill was different, but I didn't even consider how BFing would mess with my cycle. I would just like to get a handle on things so I can get an idea of where I am.

I stopped the mini pill in August (I'm still nursing though) and I have yet to ovulate almost 6 months later. Well I may have ovulated but I didn't start charting until December and FF says that I haven't ovulated yet and I am on CD36.

I ovulated right away after being on BC for 15 years. But everyone is different, and breast feeding could also throw you off as pp have mentioned.

It depends on your body..with my first, I was off BC for less than a month & got pregnant so I obviously ovulated quickly (so yes, it's possible.) Will it happen for you? I have no idea.

As other ladies have said it completely depends on your body. I came off low dose BC in April 2013. I ovulated for the first time in October and got AF without having to take Provera in November. Since then my cycles have been regulating. My first two ovulatory cycles O day changed but had a 10 LP. This last cycle I ovulated cd 14 with a 13-14 day LP. Hopefully your body will jump right back to a normal cycle but it can take time.
