FTM Driving Question. Sorry if duh Question.

It is growing difficult to drive lately and I've got three weeks to go still (maybe?). I'm 5'0 in a crossover I can barely reach the pedals and fit the belly. Dadtobe wasn't planning to come to the last appointments, but should I have him take me or get a driver? How did you handle the last few weeks of driving?

  • I think it's up to you whether you hire a driver or get your SO to take you... if you can't safely reach the pedals. I am 5'2" and have no trouble reaching my clutch and gas/breaks so I will be continuing to drive myself.

  • I'm 39+ weeks, and I'm still driving-I have rearranged my seat and steering wheel. There's not a ton of room, but I can drive!
  • My SO is now my chauffeur primarily because DS kicks the crap out of me when I drive and it's really uncomfortable. I hope he reconsiders taking you to your last appointments.

  • Honestly, I wouldn't drive if you can hardly reach the pedals. Its automatic that SO drives whenever we go out somewhere. I even scheduled my OB appts on his days off from work so he can drive me. I would ask if someone can take you there, don't want to risk it.

  • This is so confusing to me. I'm just under 5'3" and drive a Prius or BMW sedan and my belly isn't close to the steering wheel in either car. Anyway, if I were you, I would have someone drive me to the appointments if you are really having that much difficulty driving and if public transportation isn't an option. No need to risk anything at this point.

  • Could you put a pillow behind you, and tilt your steering wheel up more?

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
  • If you can't reach the wheel and pedals I wouldn't be comfortable driving anymore. I'm 5'11 and don't have that problem even though driving has become uncomfortable.

  • DH isn't letting me drive, but I can't fit either. It's a little irritating, but sweet at the same time. I'm 5'3", drive a minivan, and with Baby #4, my belly really looks like a basketball is sticking out front!
