How soon after getting up does your LO eat brekkie?

 Sammie is HUNGRY within 10 - 15 minutes....and eats a (what I think is) a good amount of food....(YAY)

Re: breakfast "time"

  • Totally depends on the day and what time he gets up.

Some days (usually when he's with me alone) he eats within 10 minutes.

When with daddy, they clean the the kitchen, tidy stuff up, empty the dishwasher, make coffee, THEN breakfast. He may be up for about an hour before eating.

When with grandma...it all depends on grandma's attitude and how she's feeling. I'd say a half hour.
    But grandma feeds him all.day.long.

  • Typically 10 or 15 minutes after waking, depends how long it takes me to prepare. She gets milk right away.
  • Depends on what time she's up. She eats usually around 7:30ish but some days she's up at 6:30 and others she's up closer to 7:30. Like PP said, she gets milk right away.

  • He has a bottle immediately. Then about 35-45 min later will eat a food breakfast. Going to transition him to milk in a cup with food at same time soon, but he's been angry if we don't give bottle right away!

  • Within 10-15 minutes of waking. She eats a ton at breakfast! More than lunch and dinner for sure :D She likes her breakfast like her mama!

  • H is a hobbit, so he has two breakfasts. He likes to nibble right away, but then eats more about an hour later.

  • It depends on the day for us.  During the week, we are up by 6:15-6:30 and then she eats breakfast around 8.  She eats with my mom, MIL, or sitter depending on the day.  When we're at home on weekends we let her stay and play in her crib until she's ready to get out around 7:45 and then she'll have breakfast as soon as we are able to have it made.

  • s/o snacking... read this article yesterday that in a general "concept" is along the lines of how I think (while I don't specifically subscribe to any of it to the letter) and there was a section on kids snacking that I was interested to read...

  • Em is usually up around 7 and eating breakfast around 7:15 most days. If she decides to sleep in (which is rare) then it's different, but it's usually 15/20 mins after getting up

  • 10-15 min after waking. She doesn't eat a big breakfast but shortly after she has a bottle.

  • we are no longer on a morning bottle (one reason she is eating so well I think) but I do 2 oz milk is straw cup each morning with brekkie to encourage her to get used to drinking milk out of it.. she still often fills her mouth with milk and lets it dribble down her chin

  • Bottle upon awaking 700 then breakfast at 815 at DC
  • @credcat what stood out for me about the article was about obligating your kids to be there for their family. In my family we all pitch in to help take care of my grandma and we always know the details of what were doing. DH 's family never want to "bother " him or his brother and as a result he couldn't even tell his dr what kind of cancer his dad had. That's nuts to me!!!!!! Even my brother calls my grandmother every night and brings her lunch when he can. A few times a week. I will make sure M is raised the same way. As for snacking I don't think it's necessary for kids to be constantly filling their pie holes!! We do snack in the high chair and never in front of the tv ( how I grew up)
  • Bottle right out of bed still. And then breakfast an hour or so later.

  • @shella923 glad you read the article.  I found that section interesting as well.  I was raised that I was allowed to ask for anything.. then it as explained to me what my request (a new keyboard) would mean in the scheme of things for the family finances.. and then I would be asked again if I thought my request was fair to the family... in that sense I want my child to know that she always has a part to play in our family running smooth... be it through helping around the house, doing well in school or just being a responsible person
