BM Donation?

I read this about donating BM to an agency then it is pasturized then given to the hospital for premie babys.  I really don't know what to think about it.  I tried to BF DD but it just didn't work out.  I couldn't produce enough milk and after a hard fought effort, I decided to FF her.  I don't think that I would be comfortable knowing my DC is drinking someone else's BM.  What do you think about it?

    BM can save a preemie's life so I'm all for it as long as the screening process is really thorough

    My sister's son was preemie and they offered to either give her DS donor milk or formula before her milk came in and she opted for donor milk with no second thoughts.  I think it all depends on your comfort level.

    well maybe if your baby was a premie in the NICU (not wishing that one anyone) than you might think differently.

    I've donated about 5 gallons of BM and am looking to donate about another gallon in the coming weeks of EPing.  I think it's a wonderful thing, and I personally would prefer my baby to get at least some BM, even if it wasn't my own.

    After seeing the wonderful effects BM has had on DS, I think I would.  If I was in the position to need donor milk and DS was a preemie, I'm not sure how I would've felt about it at the time because BFing was still such a strange concept to me (yes, I know, even though it is the most natural thing).  If someone told me that it was what was best for DS, I would've done it.  I would just want the screening process to be thorough.

    If it was an option and I couldn't give DD my BM, I would be all for it if I knew it had been properly screened.
    I have had to throw out a lot of BM from my freezer stash that had *expired*. I couldn't donate it b/c I hadn't gone through the testing ahead of time. Next baby I will go through whatever ahead of time in hopes that I will have extra again to donate.
