Baby Mary Grace

It is with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes that I have to share this news. Late Friday night Mary Grace went home and became an Angel. Please send any spare thoughts and prayers to her Mommie and Daddie as they mourn the loss of their 2nd baby.

This is so sad. What did she die from? I missed the original post on this little girl. Did her parents other baby die of the same thing? What an awful thing to happen to that poor family.

@jessicaks she was born with Jacobsens syndrome and she had a bad heart, lungs, and liver

. Their first baby had the same genetic defects and was a still born at 29 weeks gestation.

@sctiger this may get long so bear with me. When they got pregnant the first time and found out their baby had problems they had a whole bunch of genetics testing done on the baby. They found that the first one had turners syndrome along with similar problems of the heart and lungs. When they got pregnant the second time they figured the odds were with them that the pregnancy would result in a healthy baby. Unfortunately the same things popped up on the screening. They went more in depth with the testing and found out that what was showing up as turners on one test was actually Jacobsens syndrome(which is an extremely rare syndrome) when it was looked into further. They went back to the results from their first baby and found out that the first baby actually had Jacobsens instead of turners. Once they found that out they had genetic testing done on themselves and found out that they both have abnormalities in their genes that when mixed are causing the syndromes to appear. With each pregnancy they only have a 25% chance for a baby without a syndrome. Now they know that the odds are not stacked in their favor, but I'm not sure if they will try again for a biological child of their own.
