Is anyone else not having a party for the first birthday? We have no family anywhere close by and with the holidays so close I felt a little weird inviting friends with kids. Plus DH has been away a lot for work and I had enough on my hands being "single, working mom."
We're still going to celebrate and get some photos of the smash cake, but I'm having some mom guilt.

Re: No party
We're having a party but really, just a very small get together (just us and one set of grandparents that live nearby). I am not doing a smash cake but I'll make some cupcakes or something. I think it's a messy waste (unpopular opinion here) to give her a whole little cake.
Don't feel guilty, your child is not going to remember. Give him or her some cake, put on a party hat and take a couple of pictures. That's still a celebration.
Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

We did have a fun birthday party for DD1 this year as she turned 3 - she actually cared about having a party and it was a blast.
