hey everyone!  Just wanted to ask how you are feeling about your body. 6 weeks PP swelling is supposed to be gone.  I definitely still have some swelling going on.  I am about 20 pounds down and I still need to loose 10-15 more.  When will my skin shrink back to normal on my stomach?  My body bounced back much quicker with my first.  I'm starting to get a little discouraged on my progress so far.  I was in shape before and just don't feel great about my body now.  I know it takes time.  Anyone else feeling not great about your body?

  • Right there with you! I can't answer the questions you have but I just want you to know that you are not alone. I was just cleared for actually exercise, other than walking, yesterday so its time to kick it up a notch and get moving :) Good Luck!

  • It took 9 months for it to get that way, don't get discouraged if it doesn't go away immediately.

  • A lady at my doctors office asked me today when my baby is due. X(

    I'm nearly 7 weeks pp, down 20lbs but still have 15 to go. It's taken longer for my body to bounce back this time. Last time I lost all the baby weight and then some of my TTC weight. I am down to what I weighed before I got pregnant with DD1 now but my 'fat' clothes don't fit so I'm still in maternity which isn't helping my self image. I don't want to buy new pants since I want to get back to what I weighed when I got pregnant with DD2. I'd really like to get back to what I weighed when we started TTC DD1, butttt I'm not holding my breath. Really I just want to not be so flabby.

  • Well, I'm down to my pre pregnancy weight. Which is great, but I have always been chubby and my body looks very similar to what it used too. There is one exception...my belly looks like a deflated balloon/an old man. It just looks weird.

                                                              

  • Floppy and squishy, yes.  I'm vain enough to be somewhat dismayed by the appearance of my belly skin (and I'm 43, so I doubt it'll recover) but I'm more concerned by how out of shape I've gotten.  Walking a mile carrying the baby gives me butt cramps, which is ridiculous!

    I had floppy skin that I never got rid of completely after my first two. This time around its like my body remembered all that extra and popped really fast but forgot how to get rid of it all. I had to buy fat pants to go back to work and ended up in pants 3 sizes bigger than my pre-pregnancy pants. My pre-pregnancy pants were 3 sizes bigger than my goal. So at this point I'm up 6 sizes from where I want to be. I'm not sure my body will ever get back to what it's supposed to look like.

  • Yeah I had to go out and buy all new work pants because my pre-pregnancy ones do not fit, and I go back on Monday. Ugh. I am back down to my normal weight but things are definitely not the same in my mid-section. It's all squishy.

  • I was closer to my goal weight at this time pp#1 than I am pp#2. I think it's a 2nd pg thing, but also the winter holidays (pp#1 was summer). Although I don't like the weight, I think my pp flop is kinda cute: just starting to get some ab shape to the roundness. I've been walking 15 min most days and I started some easy dancing recently. Although I may have moved my hips too vigorously last night b/c (tmi) I had moderately painful gas afterwards. Ah, pp. I just hope my 6w appt goes well; I'm a touch concerned about how the tear healed (or hasn't).

  • I'm back down to my prepregnancy weight. I was pretty much all baby while I was preg. But I'm still waiting on my stomach to lighten up just a little more. And it's still a bit flabby. I start work again Monday so hopefully me moving around more will help that a bit
  • I'm pretty down about my body. I gained twice the amt of weight this time than I did with DS1 & DS2 and I hate it. I've lost 20 lbs but still have 45 more to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight! Yep 45 lbs!
    I only have myself to blame but it still sucks!
    DD is almost 8 weeks and I've started working out so hopefully I'll be able to lose it fast. I do worry about bfing and my supply tanking while trying to lose weight though. :-/

  • Ugh...almost 11 weeks out and I still don't fit into my pre-pregnancy pants and still have 20 lbs to go! People keep telling me I look great and I thought I did too for awhile but not anymore! I've been at 20 more lbs to go since about 6 weeks out! So frustrating! And it's my first pregnancy! :-(
  • I bounced back way better with my first as well. None of my clothes fit and in tired of wearing yoga pants!!!!! I've got a little over 10 lbs left to lose :/
  • I'm still 15 lbs above pre pregnancy weight and about 20 away from my goal weight...I dropped 30 lbs in the first 2-3 weeks and then it just sort of stopped...I've started exercising again and eating healthy but I can't really cut out too many calories while I'm still BFing but I'm not stressing out too much about it...I go back to work on Monday and honestly the past two weeks I've chosen to spend more time with my son rather than leave to go to the gym, not sorry at all :)

    With that said...I had to get two pairs if pants to go back to work, one size up and they're the extra stretchy kind....yoga pants disguised as work pants? Don't mind if I do!
  • I'm down 37 lbs with 25 to go. I gained way too much while pregnant. I signed up for weight watchers, which helped me before getting pregnant a lot. But I will either have to wear maternity work pants or buy some cheap ones a size or two up to go back to work on the 21. I'm bummed about my weight gain but optimistic I will lose it eventually!
  • I gained a ton and even though I lost 25lbs in two weeks I'm still over my pre pregnancy weight by 30lbs!! I was a small person and always had been and figured my body gained whatever it needed to. I'm glad though because I got very sick a week after delivery and without the extra padding who knows how I would have been able to nurse. I think I look pretty good having a six week old. I am aching to run and do some intense workouts which is what it is going to take to fit back into my friggen size 2 jeans. Lonnnng way to go.

  • Ah, size 2 jeans....if only. I actually have 4 lbs to lose to get to pre-preg weight, but 12 lbs to goal. I am petite, so being out of shape is hard to hide. That said, I am not worried about it. Like pp said, we just had babies and it takes time for our bodies to readjust. I am totally switching to clean eating at this point though. FTR, I tried skin tightening laser treatments quite a while after I had my first, and boy was it excruciating for nothing! Totally not worth it, unless you like being tortured.

  • I'm 8lbs away from ore-pregnancy... but my body is nowhere near as tight as it use to be. Its not just my belly that's jiggley... my legs are now too! Ugh! Of course it has to be winter,making it impossible to get out to walk/run.
