19 month old sleep schedule

I've noticed an increase in awareness from DS in the last couple of weeks (wonder week type of thing) and with it seemed to come a need for less sleep. We've been having a bit of a hard time getting him to go down for his nap and bedtime.

He normally sleeps 13 hrs a day (8pm-7am nightime and 1-3pm nap) but he seems to be needing less sleep lately. Just today it took him almost a whole hour to fall asleep for his nap (in his crib the whole time). He also doesn't want to go to bed at night and will usually be awake for 30-40 minutes before falling asleep. This wasn't the case before. He would be out like a light within 10 minutes of being put down. I've been hesitant to move his bedtime to later but I wonder if he needs less sleep now... ?

What is/was your LOs sleeping schedule at around 19 months? Did it change? And did you notice something like what we are going through?

Re: 19 month old sleep schedule

  • My LO has been the same way since before Christmas. Unfortunately, I work from home and have a pretty strict schedule, relying on her 11:00am nap time.  For the last 6-8 weeks she has been going back and forth on a 11, or 1:30 nap time and its killing me! Today she woke up after 40 minutes, last week it was 3 hours! I wish I knew what to do on how to make it better, or more consistent. I would put her down at 10:45/11, let her get super wound up in bed- including jumping in her crib, and then have to let her run around the Living Room for 20 minutes, before trying again.  Totally not fun though.
