Would you call the pedi... possible cyst?

I found a bump on DD2's head- on the side where the base of her head meets her neck.  I'm thinking it may be a sebaceous cyst, but I really have nothing to base that on.  It moves when you push on it, and it's smaller than a pea.  Is this something worth calling the pedi over, or do you think I can wait to bring it up at her 2 month appt in a month?  Does anyone know anything about cysts, or does this sound like something else?

It doesn't hurt anything to call and ask if you should be concerned.

  • Actually I believe that is her lymph node. With my first son I took him to the doctor for it. Yup no big deal.
  • Yeah my kids have had those. I forget exactly what it's called but it's nbd and they go away but it can take a long time, like months. Just show the Pedi at your next appointment.

  • I pointed something out sounding similar to what you're describing today at our appoinment and was told it was lymphnodes

It's only on her left side- I probably wouldn't have worried about it at all if there was something symmetrical on the other side... I feel like it's probably nothing, but maybe I should call and see what they say...
  • DD has this too and I think it's a lymph node. Planning to bring up at her 1 mo appointment.

  • Small lymph nodes are normal, they don't worry unless they are bigger than 1cm usually
  • I would call, but I'm a caller. It's only a phone call, better safe than sorry.

You have to do what makes you comfortable.
  • Thanks ladies.  I feel much better that it's probably a lymph node, but I'll run it past the pedi to be on the safe side.
  • Call. I always call. You aren't bothering them and if it puts your mind at ease its well worth it.
