All of the posters saying that a doctor should give 24 hours notice before canceling, are you going to be providing your OB with 24 hours notice before you have your baby? Because I am pretty sure your doctor has had to cancel an appointment or two to deliver a baby. That is their job after all.

I agree with this. It's unrealistic to think last minute cancellations and schedule changes don't happen. I personally was never cancelled on, but have spent a decent amount of time in the waiting room. My guess is that my Dr had to run over to the hospital (which is right next door to her office building) to deliver a baby, had an emergency squeeze-in, etc. It happens. But I would start getting annoyed if the cancellations were frequent.

  • OP, you remind me of my verbally and physically abusive mother. She always gets her way from strangers by yelling at them and acting up. She always got her way with her kids by beating them.

For fucking real? Fuck you. So I am a brat, so I hussed and fussed until they rescheduled my appointment within an acceptable time frame, I am in no way comparable to some piece of shit abusive mother.

However any of you feel about my OPINION, it's just that and it's my own. If I am entitled to nothing else, I am entitled to my opinion. You've all spent hours telling me shit I've known about myself for years. What bothers you most of all is that you know I will keep getting what I want and that sucks. Yeah, it does. Nice people probably don't get away with as much as I do. Not my problem.

I seriously don't know what any of you want from me. I did apologize, I did acknowledge that I didn't actually SAY what I meant to say. I realize it is WAY more fun to keep talking shit than it is to go do something productive with your lives, but this is getting out of hand. You don't want an apology, you don't want to hear me say that I didn't mean it the way it came out. You all just LOVE hearing yourselves talk.

So far I've been compared to an obnoxious troll who called several members ugly and fat, a drama queen, a bitch, and now I am being compared to a serial child abuser.

Who's being the drama queens now?

  • You know, I was able to ignore a lot. But comparing me to a child abuser? However you feel about my "diva" attitude you honestly feel like this was a warranted comparison to make?

  • Oh look, she flagged me.

Let's try this again. If you flip out to this extreme over an appointment that is, for the most part, a review of your family history and a Pap smear, then you are going to be a terrible mother.

I hope the bitchy ass entitlement doesn't rub off on her poor kid.

So, you're all being pretty over redundant. I've explained myself as best I can. I apologize that anyone was offended by my comments. It's how I felt, I was disappointed and irritated. There are way too many people here who literally are only on this board to stir the pot. I appreciate all the impartial and constructive feedback I was given. I DGAF about the rest of the comments that were simply intended to get me to "freak out". I lurked here for a while and saw a lot of this shit happening, it's pretty sad (insert all the "it's pretty sad that you're such a spoiled brat" variations, I love those).

Fact is, I am not going anywhere. I am not going to flag your BS and get banned. I am not going to call you names so you can justify being rude to me in the end. I am certain that the lot of you who have nothing better to do with your time, will continue talking shit here. Have fun with that!

I misspoke- take that for what it's worth and move on- or don't it effects my life in the following ways:
    1.
    2.
    3.

    TGIF!

=)) So much for that ! You may want to remove that flag...

  • I can understand the frustration! I am very impatient and I can't wait till my first appt next Thursday. I remember how bummed I was when I found out I was pregnant and then told that I had to wait almost a month to be seen.

I have not read all the replies, but you are most likely being canceled because a woman is in labor or has to have an emergency c section and your OB is tending to them...not because the staff can't schedule.

It happens. When you go into labor, I bet you will take priority over that 7 week pregnant lady, too.

Edit; or maybe the nurse had an emergency. Nurses get sick, too! Personally, I would not want a sick nurse coming in and getting me sick for a non-essential appointment.

And if this keeps happening like you said, just find a new practice! Shit. They will probably be glad to see you go.

  • Anyone else leap to the 'I feel sorry for her future children' level yet?  I don't usually think that but in this situation OP is either A) in for a huge reality check or B) continue to put her needs before everyone else's needs like usual, including her children's.  Hopefully for the sake all everyone, it'll be option A.  Better her a rough adjustment to live of the selfless parenting than a child with an eternally selfish mother.

I'm surprised at the posters who don't think it is acceptable for a doctor or nurse to get sick or have an emergency and reschedule you. Are they superhuman? Immune to all illness and personal problems? WTF? I fail to see how it is unprofessional or unacceptable to get sick.

I see why you might think that but having the same kind of mom who verbally abuses receptionists, servers, retail workers and then went hime to physically and verbally abuse her kids, I get it. I think the chance that someone who acts this way in public is lovely behind closed doors is slim to none.

Yup. She even says she always gets her way. When you are a tyrant, that tends to happen.

Why? It's true. She has the verbal abuse and bullying down.

    Agreed - I also agree with @Empireceo

This is way more tame than calling someone else's kid ugly.
  • Your pretty fucking rude and judgemental. Why don't you get over yourself. This is a forum for people to express their thoughts, feelings and advice regarding being pregnant. Which is exactly what me and the person who started this thread were doing. Get a life!

  • I bet two dirty diapers shittier than the notion that non-pregnant women aren't as important as the OP.

Thanks for explaining the purpose of the forum. Guess you've got things all figured out, considering this is your second post and all. You're well on your way to being added to the post-it too...

  • It's just that they beat it into you that you should be at least 10 minutes early for every appointment, that you have to cancel at least 24 hours in advance, etc. and then they don't think to extend the same consideration to their patients.

    LOL

What is the doc supposed to do, tell the woman with severe pre-e that she'll have to wait 24 hours for her emergency induction because he needs to give his non-urgent patients 24 hours' cancellation notice?

I'd love to hear your answer to this @tundrabunny.

Yeah, I was that woman with severe pree and iugr who could not get a phone call returned...likely due to bitches like the OP.
