Multiples

Thoughts on baby jogger city select

I've seen this stroller recommended multiple times here and elsewhere. Can anyone talk about your experience, specifically when it comes to using it with multiples? If you considered it but decided to go with something else, what did you go with?

I did not do a good job of researching strollers with DS1 so I learned my lesson, and I want to make our lives as easy as possible. I'm seriously considering this one, but it is EXPENSIVE. I actually found it on Craigslist for slightly cheaper, so I might be pulling the trigger sooner than I expected (I'm 16 weeks with twins now).

Any thoughts are appreciated.

  • It is my favorite stroller out and about, kind of annoying in that you have to put the seat on every time but so compact for stores and the basket is big enough to do small grocery shopping in. Steers great. I also have a valco tri mode for running, which is good for that but enormous, had a bumbleride which was ok but not perfect, have a combo twin which is super compact and easy to fold, but a little rickety and wider than a tandem obviously. I would recommend it, check out justkidsstore and strollerdepot for sales since you have time, you can often get them for 20% off which works out to about $530. Also if you buy new, make sure it is the 2011 or later model as they made the seats deeper and it affects resale when you are done. Hth!

  • We bought the city select double because of all the good reviews. Haven't used it yet since I'm still pregnant but I wanted to mention to be on the lookout for sales on them! We got ours from Buy Buy Baby for $500. When you bought a single city select stroller you got the second seat for free. Which was $179 value. Good luck!

  • I love it! So far I've only used it with the infant car seats for the twins, but I've used the seat and converted it to a single for DS1 a couple times.

  • I love it so far!
I too have only used it for the twins infant seats but one of the biggest reason we chose this stroller is that one of the babies isn't sitting directly under the other like with the britax b ready which was the other stroller we were deciding between. It's extremely versatile and love that if your ever out with only 1 baby, you can easily remove the second seat bracket and use as a single unlike traditional double strollers.

I HATE it.  It was wonderful when I was using it with the infant seats since I could leave both car seat adapters on and still fold it.  Now it is just a major PITA.  You have to put the second seat on and off each time you use it.  If one baby falls asleep you can not recline the seat without it being in the second babies lap or knocking their feet.  There is not nearly enough space between the seats.  The only really good thing is the huge basket.  Frankly most times these days I put my girls in the double cart at the store or wear one and put the other in the regular seat of the shopping car because I hate the stroller so much.  I am pretty sure I am going to sell it and get a city mini double.

Edited to add:  As a single stroller it's awesome.  It's just as a double that it sucks.

  • We purchased one and then returned it. I really hated it once I played with it, my husband would put weights in the seat and see if I could still move it and because the weight was over the front wheels it made it difficult for me. I figured once they got bigger I would really struggle. I am shorter so that might be why I did not like it. We ended up with the britax b-ready and I like it a lot more for myself and pushing it around.

  • Mine are 3 and I still love it. We got it when they were about 3.5 months old, and almost out of infant seats, so I've only ever used it with the seats. Started with both seats facing me (and they can recline fully that way) and now they face each other. Even though things are getting a bit cramped, they are still happy to ride in it. It's not as easy to steer as a SBS but it's one of the better steering tandems.

  • I considered it but decided against it for some of the reasons listed by others. I just don't like the stacking, whether it's in front or in back. We are going to get the Britax B Agile instead but that's what will work best with us as we have a toddler too who isn't old enough to not need to sit in the stroller sometimes.

  • I had this and the BJCMD. I liked the city select more than any other tandem. But I ended up preferring SBSs, esp when my kids got a little older. If I had twins again I would get a DSNG and then a SBS when they outgrew their car seats. But that's just me. Some people prefer tandems so it depends on what you like.
  • Love it! It's so easy to move it around in tight (or normal) spaces. We live in a major metro area and the double wides just weren't for us. We used it with the infant seats for daily walks until about 6 months and now use it almost daily. Yes, it's slightly annoying to take the second seat out, but it's actually quite easy and we've gotten used to it.

They are very expensive - luckily we got ours as a shower gift but we were going to make it our one large purchase. They have a high resale value so you get a good chunk of your money back when you sell it.
