2 travel ??

Here you go:

1.  Can I bring in the travel carseat case (on wheels) through security and not have it count as a carry on bag?

2.  I'm looking to an alternative to a PnP for O to sleep in.  He hates it and he's been failing every nap I've tried to put him in it for.  If we don't find an alternative, no one will get any sleep for our 10 day trip!  Cosleeping is not an option I'm comfortable with.  My mom does have an air mattress for the floor but I feel like that would be unsafe.  What have you ladies done?  I'm half tempted to buy another RnP for her house but he's really too big for it!

  • Try the kidco tent - peapod. It's worked so well for us with DS1!

  • No idea on 1 but my friend once told me that there are baby stuff rental stores. In certain cities, they have places where they will come out to where you are and set up a crib and then come back to break it down and take it. She said they have different things like crib rentals, high chair rentals, car seats and such. Might be worth googling it?

  • #2: I had Bradley on a twin bed mattress on the floor around 7 months with no problem when we visited my aunt

  • That's good to know @wasnotwas. We are visiting my mom (in Tampa) for 5 days and my mil in WPB for 5. My mil has a PnP, but I'm expecting to be miserable there anyway so I'm not so concerned ;)

We just bought plane tickets to go to Florida in June and I'm already stressed about the logistics of flying and going to the beach with a 1yrold.

We took G to Miami at 10 months and it worked out fine. Just except the baby to have eaten a Ton of sand by the end of your stay :) I have friends who when they go to the beach bring the entire pack n play but I found an awesome fold flat beach pop up tent that packed great!

OP I would be fine with a twin mattress on the floor option too. A floor bed definitely has been our most successful type of travel bed to date!

  • The issue is that my MIL bought the tickets and she didn't purchase one for the baby so this is what we are dealing with now. The travel case looks pretty insulated so I'm hoping that it will protect the car seat enough for future use.

  • Unfortunately it really won't. Do you have the original box? That's your best bet or another corrugated cardboard box. Another option is to have a seat (new) waiting for you at your destination. Maybe an inexpensive Cosco Scenera or Apt.

  • LO hates the PnP too-he's aways been a good sleeper and the PnP is a great way to ruin that for him.

When we are away from home LO sleeps on a little camping mattress. It's about 1 inch thick and pretty hard in my opinion-not much different from his mattress. We usually set him right at the foot of our bed and he's been fine.

I don't know much about the carseat thing, although I am going to have to start looking into it too. We just booked our flight to Alaska for June and I have no idea what to do with a convertible carseat.
  • We are flying JetBlue. The airport going there is really small but we flying into a bigger airport. There are seats still available on the plane so that is what I think I'm going to do. Gate checking is my next option.

  • Corrugated cardboard is extremely good at absorbing force, which is why it's recommended to use one if you absolutely have to check the seat.
