4weeks postpartum and doing sit ups ok???

I already know my doctor will say to wait till 6 weeks, however I feel ok to start now. What is your opinion....can I start doing my sit ups????

  • There are reasons why OBs have you wait to resume strenuous activities. Ending up with an abdominal hernia wouldn't be fun. 2 more weeks!

  • You may want to consider short walks instead.

  • Wait. Also sit-ups are not a good choice for losing the baby belly. They can actually make the pooch worse.

  • Every one of OP's posts is about something widely unrecommended asking us if it's ok most likely just to shit stir. (Im Mobile but correct me if I'm wrong) over this troll.

  • Unpopular opinion here- I started working out again 1 week PP, but my OB knew about it and said if I felt fine and monitored myself then I'd be OK. Something to certainly talk to your OB about because everyone is different.

  • Every day is a physical one for me with 3 kids, so I can't really avoid working out for a full 6 weeks.  My ob says that extra heavy bleeding is a sign to take it slower.  I also wouldn't work out if I felt pain.  It's common sense sort of stuff.

  • Guise I started doing P90x the day after I delivered. Was that not ok??
I'm sure Jaxx did, so it's totes OK.
The French do it! I read it in a book once, so I know it's true.

You forgot sarcasm font. It's very necessary on this site.

Damn it! Knew I was missing something. What did we decide was the sarcasm font again? Using the little asterisk things?

    Not even a little surprised.
Don't hate tha playa ;) In all reality though I wasn't wasting my time doing sit ups. I started with keg stands to work my tripceps and get my 6 pack back. Gotta get ready for this stupid half marathon in 2 weeks.

You are running a half marathon in 2 weeks?!?
Yes, in my defense I've done loads of half and fulls so the distance isn't scary for me. I was smart enough to maintain working out in some form throughout my pregnancy. My OB knows and was more than encouraging about it. I'm sure I won't be setting any personal records but that's ok.

  • I've been walking but that's it. No pain really but I want to be safe rather than sorry. My doc is laid back, cleared me of restrictions today but warned me if it hurts don't do it.
