5 month sleep regression

Are any of you experiencing this with your LO now instead of at 4 months? Those of you that have already been thru it how long did it last before they went back to sleeping longer stretches? Thanks!

  • Mine was ALL of month 4. Literally the day she turned 5mo, she slept 6 hours again. I know you asked if it happened at 5 mo instead...I just wanted to comment on the length part of your question. Hang in there!

  • My 4 month old is going through this.  She started about a week before she turned 4 months, but she was almost a week overdue.  Was your baby a premie?  sometimes they go through stuff at different times than normal, based on their EDD, instead of their birth date.

  • It'll last until they're 18 and out of your home. Get used to it.

  • I wish people would just understand that infant sleep in unpredictable.  It is completely normal for one child to sleep through the night and another one to wake up every 2 hours.  If there was a way to fix this, do you not think we would ALL be doing it and telling you  how!!  Drink more coffee and enjoy the snuggles because they will not last forever.

Mine has never slept through the night, still up every 2 hours. Maybe you should try cereal in his bottle? My little one likes Cap'n Crunch

No, trix. Trix are for kids!

Is that the same as whiskey? ;)

I suck at spelling. Sorry lol! This is why I need autocorrect on my phone. It saves my life. My bad spelling habits come out when I'm not mobile.

I'll invent it, so I can patent it, and help babies sleep through the night.

  • I wasn't asking if there was a magic fix - just a time frame others experienced.
And I don't know how many times people will post about this - I don't watch the threads 24/7, nor do I have a search function. I have the app and it directs me right to "my birth club" not other boards but I have found that on many of these there are all sorts of ladies feeling they are more entitled to post or comment than others, just cause they spend more time here. Aren't we all moms just trying to balance life? Id like to continue to view this as a true "community" rather than a "clique". Please be nice and gracious. If you don't have anything nice to say just don't say anything :)

This, although I too am guilty of freaking out about LO's sleep. Granted, she's somewhat of a special case as her sleep is literally all over the place no matter what I try, but I'm really learning to just roll with it. All I can do is do my best to make sure she gets enough sleep so that she keeps growing. Beyond that, I've really just given it all up to the sleep gods. And coffee is my BFF.

  • None of us watch the threads 24/7. We just know the actual meaning of "community".

  • Sleep is inconsistent for most babies for a while. Enjoy the long stretches when they happen and deal with the short ones. It comes and goes, just like many of the 'members' who post repeat questions.

  • I too have freaked out about my LO's crazy sleep habits- or lack their of! I've come to realize that it's going to change many more times before she will go to sleep on her own, without the boob, and STTN. I keep reminding myself that it won't always take 1.5-2 hours to get her to sleep, and to enjoy these little cuddles and times when all she wants, is me. I know it's frustrating, and so do all of the other women here, just gotta roll with it. Keep your head up....

Your LO is still up every 2 hours, because you're using the wrong cereal!!! Try Lucky Charms. Works every time!

    Psh.... Cinnamon toast crunch....

We're all about the Trix over here. My 4yo nephew loves them so I figured why shouldn't DD enjoy some.
