Snow day here with about a foot of snow outside. Wind chill is -3 which is something I don't think I ever remember in Philly before! It's crazy! The girls further up north are the troopers though I think!

I live in Kansas. It snowed on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Today it's a nice cold, sunny 37 degrees. But at least it's "warmer" than it was the last two days. I think on Wednesday it was all of 10 degrees. It's only somewhat become a hassle since I have a baby to take to daycare when it's so cold and snowy.
I don't know, I'm not thrilled with the high temp Sunday and Monday being possibly negative 1, but at the same time that's winter to me. And, I'll take cold over snow anyday.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
I have to chuckle a little at this. The Saturday after Christmas we had extended family over to celebrate and it had gotten up to 45 outside. We were all so HOT. We were opening up windows and sliding doors. Anything over 80 and I feel like I am on fire. I always wonder how you Southerner's bare the summer months
Seriously, though, I'm used to it, though it usually comes on a little more gradually than it did this year. I don't even wear gloves most of the time unless I'm shoveling.

This. That's how I get through winter. I don't like zero degrees and hate driving in the snow, but I despise hot weather and couldn't imagine having to stay indoors for a few months of the year to remain in AC. If it's above 20 degrees (which it normally is here), it's warm enough to get outside to me!
I'm in North Dakota & they are canceling schools here as well because of the negative degree weather. I'm from Georgia, only in ND because husband is military It's freezing!!
I grew up in CT and will never, ever live there again! I've lived in NC, TX, CA and AZ the past 10 yrs of my life and will never live in a cold place again for an extended period of time.
My parents are down here in NC visiting from CT and are so thankful they are not up there right now! Good luck to y'all!
Yeahhhhh it's 15 degrees here and with the wind chill it's 4. I happen to like it right here in the DMV - the boarder between the north and the south so I can have my cake and eat it too! But today I am just staying in my sweats with furry slippers and literally eating cake all day. ">
I moved from Rochester, NY to DC 10 years ago and have never regretted it. I hate snow and cold! I can deal with the couple months a year the DMV has winter weather, but I drew the line at snow on my college graduation day in May!
I was living in Buffalo that year, my roommate was from VA and her internship was up that May. She ran screaming from Upstate when it snowed the day she moved out. Sounds like it was the same day. I'm so happy to be back in the S, Fingerlakes we get snow but not like that winter. Yesterday was -2 or something with a -20 wind chill but we have less that a foot on the ground.
I grew up in Alaska. I lived in Minnesota for a year, Oregon for ten years, and am on year seven in San Francisco. I think I've been the least comfortable in SF because no buildings - my work, my house, other businesses etc - are constructed to withstand any weather above 75 or below 65. At least in AK and MN, most places are well insulated enough that you don't freeze your toosh off indoors in the winter nor melt in the summer. (My hometown gets temps in the 90's for consecutive weeks in the summer. Anyone who describes Alaska as cold year-round has never experienced 90+ temps and a sun that doesn't set for several weeks.
I live in Illinois and the current temp is -8 with a windchill of -33. Lovely. Thank god I am off work until Thursday! My crazy husband is out snowblowing driveways.
Nebraska here: -14 for a low with a windchill of -27. I laughed when I saw schools in the Southeast having late starts and school closings for highs of 25-30. It's all in what your use to I guess.

Right now it is 8 degrees, but feels like -8, and snow everywhere. I would kill for 50!! I question why I live here every winter!

Same here in SE Wisconsin. Forecast on one of the local stations: "Monday: Very, very cold." That is an understatement.

I just got my backup plan in place for Monday, just in case. If school's closed, so is daycare.
