Looks like we will not be getting newborn pictures taken

I had our photographer all picked out and they told me to just let them know within a week of her birth to schedule a shoot. So I emailed them the day she was born. Then a couple days later when her homecoming was delayed by the NICU stay. And then a third time when neither of those emails got a response a week later. THEN a phone call when still no response at almost two weeks out. Finally got a return call yesterday for them to tell me...they are not currently doing newborn pictures. WHAT?!? They gave me the name of someone they recommend instead. Turns out they cost more money. I'm PISSED and really tearfully disappointed. It was already not what I expected when Aryanna had to stay in the NICU and now yet another thing not what I planned. I am really angry and sad and really want to figure out how to get precious newborn pictures when we're already over the age they recommend getting them taken at. So bummed :'(

I'm sorry. That sucks! Have you tried researching to see if any other photogs are available? I wouldn't let her age deter me from trying.

Did you give this photographer a deposit?

I would keep looking..it'll be worth it to get them done even if she is a little over the recommended age. You may regret it later if you don't get them done and even if you get 5 good pictures, it's better than none. Sorry your photographer basically backed out on you! Totally ridiculous!

I'm so sorry. I agree to not let her ago be a factor. Life gets in the way sometimes and you can only control so much. Hell, we just got baby pics taken at 5.5 weeks. Even if it's not the photographer and the age you had originally wanted, find another option soon and I'm sure you will look back and love the pictures you end up with because they are of YOUR precious baby

I am so sorry. That sucks so bad. I have had my fair share of photographer disappointment. Mine took my maternity pics and will take newborn pics but is taking months to get the photos back. So I got photos taken but no pictures back and I wanted them for Christmas etc. I understand how you feel. I would keep looking to see if someone can help you out.

. But I say find another option. Not doing good NB pics with DS is my absolute biggest regret.

Did you sign a contract and put a deposit down?? I would be pissed off
Definitely find another photographer. I'm sure there are plenty of people in your area who do them.

My daughter was 6 days old when we got hers done and she was awake for the majority of them even at that age. I'm still waiting to get ours back but I'm sure they turned out great even though she was awake. I would recommend getting them done still.

Sorry to hear this! We got out photos done at 20 days as that was the earliest I could go out of town to get them done. DD slept through most of the photos, needed to feed/settle and then slept for the rest of them. Don't give up! You can still do them past the 10-14 day range!

We had ours taken for DS at 2 months. He was being discharged from NICU that day. They look awesome. I would just find someone else and not worry about timing.

is there a college near you or university? You may be able to get a skilled photography major/student to do it for cheaper. Not the same as the professional, but something at least.

Not currently doing newborn pictures...gee that would have been nice to tell you when you asked about newborn pictures...I didn't realize there was a season for it...Sorry your photographer is such a butt head

I am so sorry

I was also disappointed and furious with my photographer. Supposedly she is phenomenal (saw her portfolio and it is true) and many people go to her in my area. We had a great session and she scheduled me to come pick up the prints in two weeks. So the morning we were supposed to pick them up, Elle was very fussy and it took me so long to get our things together and get on the road. It takes half an hour to get to her studio, and it was storming, but I just HAD to see how the prints came out. Well, we got there, and she FORGOT that we were coming today, and that she never put our appointment in her calendar after talking to me. That was her explanation. I was shocked. Needless to say i got a huge discount, but still...i had to wait another week to get the prints.

I hope you find someone who you love and can help you capture those precious moments. It is so worth it!

Sadly I did not have a contract signed. It wasn't offered to me, not sure why, as I assumed they'd need a deposit. Aryanna was born a few days later than expected but not really off on when I told them I'd be expecting pictures done. I am still looking, I know I'll really regret getting nothing. The photographer they recommended actually has a newborn package & a baby package. The baby package is $100 less (and less than the original photographer) though is 1 hour as opposed to the newborn 4 hour. What REALLY bums me out is DHs cousin is an AMAZING photographer, doesn't charge family a session fee, & gives family a 20% discount...but she's in OH & we're in FL. She'll be doing Ari's 6 month pictures, but that doesn't help me now. I really hope I can AW some NB pix eventually...

Oh, I am so sorry

I would keep looking though! Life gets in the way sometimes, but honestly I do plenty of newborn shoots with 4 week old babies and the shots are just as good if you get them during their sleepy times! Keep looking!
