Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

starting miso this evening and alone! how AWFUL is this. (child mentioned)

I am alone, I have no family, and I'm going through a long drawn out miscarriage. I have an 11 month old with me. I am just terrified doing this alone. My partner doesnt live in the country, though he was here for me when I passed the sac on the 14th of December. We dont have a very stable relationship so emotionally this is just so awful. I feel so awful and alone. It is the most loneliest miscarriage :((
Anyway, I need to take the pills this evening. My doctor had me wait it out a couple of weeks to see if I would pass it all on my own. I did ultrasounds in between. 1 was on xmas eve. Then next was the day before new years eve. What wonderful holiday. I am already alone without parents or any family, except I have my beautiful daughter that I adore. Anyhow, he now gave me the pills, and I am here about to take them at 8pm. Im terrified at what is going to happen. I have no idea what to expect, this is my first miscarriage. I have someone who lives in my building who knows whats happening but thats about it. And she has two kids of her own as a single mom, so I don't know how much help she can really give.
So scared.

Re: starting miso this evening and alone! how AWFUL is this. (child mentioned)

  • How far along were you? You did already pass the sac? Do you have any idea how much material you have left to pass (just clots)?

I'm so sorry you are alone. I was terrified too, but the fear of the unknown was worse that what really happened. Do you have someone you can be in contact with via text? T&P!!

  • I'm so sorry you are going through this!  It is so unfair and I'm sorry that you are suffering.  You should make sure that you stay in contact with your neighbor, if only via text, just so someone knows you are ok.  I wish you weren't going though this, and I send you thoughts and prayers.
  • As you can see in my post below only for a two hour period was it aweful for me. Is there anyway your neighbor could stay with you (even if mainly just staying in another room watching movies only to check on you once an hour?) because it was fairly scary there for a little while.

  • @twobabiesforme I am so so sorry you have to go through this alone.

    *****older children mentioned*****

I took miso on 8/14 for my miscarriage and the worst of it for me took place over night. I would contract over night and then be ok during the day. I have 2 girls and although I felt horrible I was able to interact and take care of them. My husband had just started a new job and I moved to a new city and didn't have much support either. I second PP about reaching out to a neighbor. Let someone local know you are going through this just in case!!!

    Please keep us updated!!!!!

  • I don't have any experience with miso, but I wanted to say how sorry I am that you are going through this, especially that you are doing it alone. I just want to say that you are not entirely alone - we are all here for you in spirit, and sending prayers and good thoughts your way. Please check in and let us know how you are doing. As others have said, try to reach out to a neighbor if you can. Thinking of you.

  • So far not much pain, and i have bwen bleeding although i was already bleeding before i took the pills so not sure if thebpills are exactly working. I felt some clits coming and had to be in thw bathroom quite a few times last night and hoping my daughter wouldnt wake. she was ok. it just really not good to be alone during this. i barely slept all night and now shes going to wake up soon.
So, my doctor has me taking 2 pills every 12 hours, so I just took my second set right now, and I have to do it 2 more times (tonight and tomorrow morning). Just want to thank you ladies because it just feels comforting to know someone in the world is listening and cares. If this doesn't work he wants me to repeat the process a couple days later. Then I have my ultrasound to check if its all gone. I hooooope this works cuz I dont want to do a surgery AND do it alone too :(:(:(:(

thank you ladies again, I will keep updating
  • And my neighbor met me in the common area for a little as I took the first set cuz I was sooooo scared to take them. She calmed me some. She has kids too so they played together a bit then I went home and she said she would keep her phone on so that helped but thankfully I didn't need to call her
  • I hope things are going ok for you this morning...I'm glad your neighbor has kept her phone on.   Sending you strength to get through the day...know that others are thinking of you.
  • Thanks tumbleweed
  • I have been checking my phone all morning for this update. It's times like these when we remember that women are the strongest people in the world!!! I'm sending you positive thoughts and prayers that this is it for you.

  • Thank you frenchteachermama it means alot! Are you Canadian btw?

little update: I'm not feeling much contractions as u mentioned u felt, but I'm bleeding and clotting. I called my on office and was told that since I'm bleeding I would have to do another u/s in about a week before I start the next batch of pills. I will do anything to avoid surgery!!

    And thank you pinkroses!
  • And katib!! Are you all good now? Did it work for you?
  • Very relieved to hear that you're doing ok, and that your neighbor is keeping an eye out for you. I hope your little girl can bring you some comfort and keep you distracted a bit. Remember, you are NOT alone. Sending virtual hugs and hand-holding.

  • I'm posting alot, this is my only real outlet so sorry if I'm talking too much.
So, I'm wondering, I have no idea what to expect and I don't really understand whats happening because I am bleeding and clotting, but I have no pain or cramps at all. Last night was little cramps, today nothing at all and I just retook the pills at 8 am. Is this normal???
I've tried googling, but it coming up with women saying they have pain but no bleeding. The opposite of whats happening to me.
Again I am just terrified of this not working and ending up with the surgery.
    Help!
  • I'm not a doctor, so I may have no idea...but I would say that you shouldn't worry if you have no pain.  Some women have no pain and some have a lot.  I would only worry if you aren't bleeding or are bleeding way too much (more than one pad in one hour is what I was told.)  If you are worried, you should ask your doctor.  fingers crossed for you!
  • @twobabiesforme everyone is different. I am not a success story because I ended up needing a D&C 4 weeks later because there was remaining tissue. You did say you passed the sac before the miso so maybe it's a good sign. My second day on the miso was worst than the first.

I'm not French, born and raised in Chicago but I love French and became an inner city French teacher.

  • I'm no doctor or expert either, but I would think since your OP said you already passed the sac that might be why you aren't experiencing as much pain and cramping. The worst of my excruciating pain was leading up to the sac. My second dose of cytotec was taken after I passed the sac and the cramping and pain from that dose was nothing like the first dose that led me to pass it. Also it was after I passed the sac that I finally started bleeding.

Hang in there and know we are all thinking of you!!
