Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

weird news from my d&c...

so i opted to have them do genetic testing on the tissue from my d&c and they have preliminary information - evidently my placenta had "abnormal" cells which caused it to not function properly. ?however, my doctor in all his eternal delicacies threw out the word "pre-cancerous" and now i'm on the verge of flipping out. ?i asked if that meant *i* had to worry about cancer or if was just the placenta with the abnormal cells, and he said i'm not to worry - it was just the placenta, but they're going to have me come back in for some constant bloodwork to make sure my hormone levels go all the way down so they can be sure they got all the tissue.

good god. ?what next??

  • ::hugs:: I hope your worries are calmed by the anwsers your doctors give. I think that could mean a molar pregnancy, or partial molar.

  • Sounds like it was a molar pregnancy or a partial. I was just diagnosed and confirmed with a partial molar pregnancy last week.  I will start weekly blood draws tomorrow and will continue weekly until I reach zero and then will go monthly for six months. I hope your doctor is able to give you more answers.  Sending hugs your way.

  • Take a deep breath and demand an explanation.  I am so sorry that youre going through all this.

  • My doc told me I had a mutating placenta and he likened it to cancer. He said that like cancer the cells of the placenta were mutating and growing abnormally. I do not have cancer so maybe it was along the same lines as what was "wrong" with me.

I am sure if you had cancer or were at a high risk he would have you with the doc asap. I would call just to put your worries to rest.

  • thanks everyone for your replies. ?he didn't mention anything about a molar or partial molar, and my 8 week ultrasound they said was completely normal - little formed fetus and defined placenta and umbilical cord. ?i'm just going to wait for the rest of the results to come back and move on from there. ?we're leaving for christmas with my family tomorrow morning so maybe i'll just try to take a mental break from this and resume when i get back next week.

    my love to everyone here...?
