Milk came in yesterday - area above chest feeling tight?

So my milk came in yesterday and I noticed a little yesterday that the area right above my breasts felt a bit tight, I thought it was from stress (yesterday evening was a bit crazed with LO) but today has been totally calm and I still feel it.  It doesn't hurt, it's definitely not painful, I can take deep breaths, my heart feels fine (not beating too fast or anything).  I don't know if this is normal with new milk coming in or something I should call about.  I had the baby on 12/28.  Anyone else experience this?

Re: Milk came in yesterday - area above chest feeling tight?

  • No, it's more internal.  Like kind of a heavy feeling.

Right after I posted, one of the nurses from the hospital called to make sure I was doing okay after being discharged, I asked her the same question.  She paused and asked if it was more on the left side - hinting at maybe angina.  I said no, it's just kind of all over heavy feeling.  She thinks it's probably just my boobs being engorged now and my body getting used to it.  If symptoms change/worsen, then call.

  • @nrg2020 did they just pump you full of lasiks and send you home?

  • FWIW, my son had a marathon feeding last night and I felt waaay better. So it was the boobs.
  • Happy you're feeling better and it's not heart/lung related.

I'm battling the same thing. I think I've been having a hard time relaxing my muscles while holding her and trying to ignore the discomfort. Can definitely feel the milk flowing from everywhere else except up top. Thanks for posting that your marathon feeding helped! (It's warning me to sleep and let DH take over for most of today so I'm prepared for the fury about to be unleashed!)

Same, I thought maybe stress or the way I was holding him. But I feel fine today.
