What kind of foods are you offering? I have some black eye peas and I'm not sure if I should offer them to LO or save for later. Should I just stick with the basic baby type food.
I gave Harper black eyed peas. I pretty much feed her whatever. I'm doing purées and a mix of non puréed soft foods. I stay away from high allergy foods though until it is a "better" age to introduce them. Foods like peanut butter or any berries although we have done strawberries. I just give her food but I'm a loosey goosey jaded mom lol!
@jancandance - diffidently stay away from the top 10 allergy food since LO has MSPI. I've dealt with allergies for the past 7 years. Glad to know that someone else is giving them to LO too!
She eats what we eat as long as its healthy, I just add an extra veg or fruit for DD.
Chicken curry, sausage and pasta, steak and broccoli, blueberry pancakes, yogurt with fruit, french toast. Thats what she'e eaten this week.
You fed your baby steak? Please tell me you puréed it first. I can't get behind this. I can deal with the rest, but steak?!?!! And what sausage isn't loaded with sodium? Not my kid, so not my business, but I'm side eyeing the steak business.
I make her food in big batches. Last night I did chicken, avocado, quinoa, cilantro, and half a lime. I've been looking up recipes. I usually let her sample what I'm having. I stay away from high allergin foods until she's a little older but I'm not real anal about as there is no history of food allergy in either family and she's had no reactions. I also have avoided gassy foods for my own selfish reason while I bed share. She toots in my face while she sleeps enough.

I offer ground up steak or chicken once a day mixed with puréed veggies. Iron is a very important part of their diet.
In Ontario, the only food we're told to delay is honey (one year) and milk (9 months, I think?). Unless you have a good reason to delay foods, I've been told you can increase risk of allergy by waiting. But, like anything, I'm sure the recommendations will change!
C started solids on Dec 8 and so far he's had rice, banana, sweet potato, peas, pork, turkey, chicken, butternut squash, apple and oatmeal.
I've been mostly sticking to the traditional baby foods, but I always look for anything I can give her off the table. My MIL cooks a lot of foods I don't so when we are over there she usually tries new things, I spoon fed her some of stew last week and she loved it.
@westerndiva my pedi also said you can give everything. I think we are going to do peanut butter this weekend.

peanut butter is a very scary food to try! My friend never thought about her son having the allergy since no one in the family has had it. Luckily they were out of town and close to a hospital( our closest one is 45 minutes away). A babysitter gave him a peanut butter cookie and they ended having to rush him to the hospital. They said that with each attack, it gets worse. They now carry around an EPI pen. So please be careful when giving an top allergic food!
@redcherry1109 I am definitely going to be very careful. Going to make sure both DH and I are home and watch her very carefully. I know there *might* be a reaction even though we have no family history, but I feel best we try it now under a controlled environment. Like all the other Ontario ladies our pedi gave us the OK.
I also think C would have already reacted if peanut butter were a problem - he gets "peanut butter kisses" from big brother after breakfast all the time!
I actually just stalked the Plum Organics site yesterday for good combo ideas wholesomebabyfood.com is great too because if you search for something you have (or that LO has had) it gives you recipe ideas and things to pair it with.
I just bought lentils, spinach, chickpeas, turnips, quinoa, apricots and pureed pumpkin to make stuff today. I discovered the other day that LO (both actually) will eat avocado if it's mixed with banana so that was a win. I also made sweet potato and blueberry yogurt.
Y'all are so progressive. I've been sticking to basic baby food like carrots, pears, apple, sweet potato, squash and peas. I gave him a whole wheat toast strip the other day which was a big excitement. I am even nervous about giving him the chick pea puree that I made yesterday!
I want him to eat what we eat (minus all the snacks I keep shoving in my mouth) but I am too scared to do it!
LO has eaten oatmeal, butternut squash, avocado, bananas, green beans, pears, sweet potatoes, apples, peas, turkey, white potatoes, mango, and carrots. He has also gummed bread and homemade rolls, but we took them away once they started to get soggy so that they didn't break into pieces. We haven't done that many combos yet: just avocado/butternut squash, avocado/bananas, and turkey/apples, but we plan to do some more soon. Any recommendations for what to try next? We want to do peaches, plums, or nectarines but can't find any at the grocery store right now (out of season.)

For peaches I'd just get the jarred kind (versus the canned kind) in its own juice. Or frozen. That's what I've done for blueberries.
What great eaters you all have! I certain am not winning 'Queen of the Kitchen' anytime soon. LO has only had avocado, pumpkin and kale. I should probably get on the bandwagon and start making more foods.
I just tried to purée green beans. I bought frozen green beans, puréed them with puréed carrots (to make them a bit sweeter) and no matter how long I kept them in the food processor they were still a bit chunky. I think this will be my last attempt with green beans. Unless she is ok with how they came out.
I've also made blueberry/apple, blueberry/banana, sweet potato/canellini bean, peas, squash/apple/banana/cinnamon.
From jarred/pouches she has had butternut squash, pears, peach/banana, prunes, peas, applesauce, and likely some others I cannot remember.

ETA: of course I defrosted the green beans first!
You'll never get them as smooth as jarred but don't underestimate your LO Also make sure you're adding enough liquid because they get too thick to get as smooth as possible if you don't.
@JessicaKS I made peas and I couldn't get them smooth so I froze them the way they were. When I defrosted an ice cube I added a bit of water and mixed with a spoon and they got much smoother. So maybe add more water or add water when your defrosting.

We did fresh green beans and added water as necessary, and ours turned out pretty smooth. I'm not sure about frozen, though, because we only did peas that way.
