Cradle cap?

Seriously with the cradle cap again? I was brushing DD's hair with a comb last night and noticed A LOT of flakes coming out of one area...so I moved her hair to look and sure enough, it looks like she's got cradle cap again. It must be a fairly new area- I haven't noticed flakes in her hair before last night-  we haven't done anything different lately as far as shampoo or frequency of hair washing....when she was a newborn, i'd rub oil all over the problem areas and brush it with a comb to help clear it up, but now that she's mobile and has so much more hair, I'm not sure how that's going to work this time...

Re: Cradle cap?

  • Milla seems to have some too. I stopped using shampoo in her and brush it daily, oh and use the humidifier. It is helping a ton!

  • Sam's got it too - and he barely has hair so it looks awesome right now. Ugh!
I've started rubbing coconut oil on his head before bath time. I let it sit there for a few minutes while he plays, and then shampoo it out. It's pretty greasy unless I shampoo twice, which may defeat the purpose, but it does seem to be getting better.

That's my concern...Abbi has A LOT of hair, and I'm not sure that trying to apply oil to her head is going to do anything but make her hair greasy... i'd pretty much have to saturate her head if I hope to get any on her scalp

  • I still get patches that flake off as an adult. My doc. gave me a prescription shampoo to use, and it largely keeps it at bay. Not sure how kid friendly it is though...

  • Could you apply good olive oil or coconut oil just to the roots?  I'm thinking something like a cruet could help apply it closer to the scalp...

  • I could try...but DD H-A-T-E-S anyone messing with her hair in any manner, so getting her to hold still enough to part her hair and get anything on her scalp is liable to be a challenge...it's terrible, but I've honestly though about trying to do it when she's asleep since she's a pretty deep sleeper and I feel like I could make some good progress before it was enough to wake her up.
