FIrst pregnancy meltdown, yippee

Totally AW'ing up the board today ladies, sorry.

So those of you saying you were jealous and wanted to be pregnant again, let me remind you of the pregnancy hormone related meltdowns.

Tonight - i was all excited to make a nice dinner (I got some good all clad cookware for Christmas); had bacon wrapped filets and scallops all ready to go, diced up some brussells sprouts and tossed with lemon, garlic, salt, pepper, parmasan, pine nuts... baked potatoes in the oven...

OH holy shit, seared the filets and put in the oven, but burned the oil while heating up for scallops; insane smoke detector (hardwired into house), starts BLARING, with that bitch in the background smugly saying "Fire. Fire. Fire" as if I don't know I'm in the midst of burning $40 worth of food. SMoke everywhere. Baby crying. I spill pan drippings all over inside of oven; dropping huge all clad pan on the floor.

And that is when I lost it. Huge tears, storming around trying to shut off hardwired detectors, opening windows (BTW, it's like -5 degrees out), trying to calm baby in the other room whileI tell husband to help himself.

Amazingly, dinner wasn't ruined and was quite delicious, but I have a headache now and the house will probably smell like smoke all night.

Le sigh.

After this, plus hosting 2 dinner parties,a cocktail party and a baby shower in the past two weeks, I think I'm on strike.

Baked enchiladas for dinner tomorrow night. The end.

Is it wrong that I laughed at "that bitch in the background smugly saying 'Fire. Fire. Fire.'"? Sorry it was so stressful, but at least dinner was still edible!

I think you deserve to be on strike! I would have just sat down and cried a little, ugh. I'm glad you got to enjoy the food after all that you went through for it!

(Scratches head in confusion) Baked enchiladas don't count as a home cooked meal? I wouldn't exactly consider that phoning it in, friend. Get takeout from Teresa's instead.

Mmmm theresas!

It's already made and frozen - just have to pop it in the oven. I batch cook on the weekends. I just meant that I wouldn't be whipping up any "cuisine" for a while. I remember the last pregnancy my cooking went to shit too. My timing was just off.

Oh, and I burned my thumb.

Ironically my cooking also went to total shit last pregnancy!!!! Same thing - timing way off. Nothing came out good!

Thank you for the reminder. Lol. I was at my obgyn's office today for a non-pregnancy appointment (obviously) and seeing all the cute pregnant ladies made me want to be pregnant again (we are done...I think. Haha). But your story reminded me of when I lost my shit over spilling a glass of milk. I don't need that again any time soon. Hahahhaha.

That's part of why I wanted to do some good cooking this week -- I know in a few weeks i will not have the energy or the appetite for anything but chicken fingers! :-)

I remember bawling - I mean, seriously crocodile tear hyperventilating sobs because I got home after shopping - and didn't like the way a candle i just bought, smelled. I mean, good Lord.

@melissaad23 similar story when I was pregnant but it was a coffee mug I broke. I literally ugly faced bawled over it because now we only had three and I wouldn't be able to find one that matched. And they all had to match for some reason. Wow..

Unfortunately it was last night and now I'm on strike! You missed it! But it was pretty awesome, smokey house and all. ;-) I made baked potatoes and a brussells sprout hash with parmesan, lemon, garlic and pine nuts...
