That's disgusting. Since you've already successfully cleaned it, I say she owes you dinner and drinks!
This. She owes you something in return for having to clean it up. I don't doubt that she's mortified, but she needs to offer something, anything, as an apology and a thank you.
Unless the couch is leather, she should pay to have the offensive cushion replaced. An exterior cleaning is fine, but the stuff you can't get in the cushion is only going to get nasty over time. I speak from experience- at potty training accident with DD1 turned into a horror show a few months later.
I soaked the whole cushion in a tub of hot water, disinfectant, and soap, and squooshed the water completely out, then rinsed in hot clean water. Then I drained as much water out as I could, and gave it a go in the spin cycle, then the dryer. It worked so well and was so easy I did all my cushions!
She did apologize profusely, but didn't offer...anything. I'm just going to let it go. Life is too short.
Re: NBR: What would you do if...
I can't even imagine. I'm so sorry!
Like I said, I cleaned everything myself. It wasn't as heinous as it sounds.
