1st pp period.Is ...this normal?

I finally got my 1st pp period after 4.5 months....yay!  But it's super heavy...yesterday was the 1st day and I've been bleeding through a super plus tampon every 2-3 hours.  I haven't seen any clots (sry if that's TMI).  My cramping was bad last night but nothing aleve and a heating pad can't handle.  It;s been over a year since I've had it so maybe I've forgotten what it's like. Just wondering if this is normal to be so heavy?  TIA!

Re: 1st pp period. Is ...this normal?

  • My first period after having DD was brutal. I'm not joking when I say I completely filled and bled through an overnight pad and got it on the sheets. Sooooo in my experience it's normal :-/

  • My first was brutal also with the twins. I have never had one like it before. I was going through about a pad a hour and still soaking through. The cramps were so bad I could barely move a couple times. Luckily it was only that bad for that first one. Guess it had to make up for not having one for a 1 1/2years.
  • Thank you for the responses!  Glad to know it's normal.  On one hand I'm glad things are getting back to normal but it was nice not having a period!!!  Happy Yahoo I am sooooooooo moody too!!!!

  • My PP periods have all been much heavier than they were before I got pregnant. I've been less crampy, which is a nice bonus, but the moods.....omg the moods! What you're describing definitely sounds like the realm of normal.

  • Yep.  And mine is still bad.  Not quite as bad as the first two or three, but I know am required to use Super Plus tampons for at least the first 2 days.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
