Saturday morning (12/28) I went and got a prenatal massage at 10:15am it was glorious and she hit all of my pressure points to induce labor. Came back home went about the day with the husband doing random cleaning up around the house. Had dinner about 7ish or so.
Just before 8pm I started getting contractions or what I thought were braxton hicks about every 15 minutes apart. They started getting more and more intense and closer together. Around 10:30pm I took a shower and then tried to go to sleep. About 12pm my contractions were about 6 minutes apart. I tried to sleep some more. By 2am I told my husband it was time to go. After getting everything together we got to the hospital about 3:30am.
They checked me and I was 5cm dilated. I got an IV so that I could get my epidural. I received the epidural at about 4:40am. I was checked again and was 6cm. Around 7:30am I was 8cm and they broke my water. I didn't get checked again until 11am and it was go time. I pushed with the nurse for 2 hours and we weren't making much progress because he was facing sideways rather than down. The doctor came in and checked my progress at that time he told me that my pelvis was small and that I had 2 options, I could get a c-section or try suction. I told him I wanted to try suction before going to c-section. He said we would only try for a few pushes to see if it would work. Thankfully it did and I was able to bring the baby down on my own just after a few suctions. He did have to preform an episiotomy and then Lucas was out.
Lucas Anthony was born 12/29/13 @ 1:19pm 9lbs 8oz and 21 1/2 inches long. Never imagined I would have a 9lb baby. He latched right away and feeds like a champ. Figuring out how to get him to sleep through the night without one of us holding him is a whole different story.
Here are some pictures
