Milestones Poll

edited January 2014 in April 2013 Moms
Since we have had all these posts about milestones, I am curious. I also feel like I always notice the posts where babies are ahead of the curve but I am curious about what percentage of babies are actually starting to pull up and walk. We are in the "my baby doesn't pull up yet" camp, by the way.

So what is the most "advanced" milestone that your baby can do so far?

Re: Milestones Poll

  • Miles is cruising all over while holding onto something (couch, push toy)....it's kind of a PITA. The kid is fast and keeps finding things I haven't thought to baby proof.
  • Loading the player...
  • Jasmine takes a few steps from the coffee table to the couch or vise versa. She is getting up from everything she can get support from and she is a super fast crawler. I am one tired mom :-<
  • Brayden hates his feet touching the ground so he's not even pulling up yet

  • Hell no, James isn't even crawling yet. He'll stand holding onto sometbing if I stand him at a table or something.

  • Fin does not pull up or stand, nor seems to have any desire to.  When I pull him up to practice he just kind of looks at me like 'silly mum, why would i want to do that'.

  • I picked pulls up on everything. But she just started pulling herself up so it isn't on everything. It's on shorter things that she can put her weight on ( vs actuall pulling up). She just started doing it and it is soo cute...

Rhys army crawls but does not get up on his knees. He will SOMETIMES stand holding onto something if I stand him up... but only for a few seconds before he goes all lazy jelly-legs on me.

  • Sonya is cruising, and she's REALLY fast so she's always getting into mischief.
I miss those pre-crawling days so much...

  • Elliott isn't even crawling yet! No army crawl, nothin! Our biggest accomplishment right now is standing if I hold his hips in place, and he can also kick his legs back from a sitting position to get down onto his belly. The he screams!

My Myles is the same way.  He walks pushing his little cars & guiding himself along furniture everywhere.  Right now, he army crawls more than on hands & knees, but he's realizing he's faster on his hands & knees, so that's just a matter of time.  The stairs going up are no longer safe anymore, either.  :-(
Myles was so pumped about the baby . . . until he figured out he'd have to share all his toys!!!

  • Ari is pulling up on anything and everything.  She can stand while holding onto the couch or chair, but she can't take a step yet.  The cat is her biggest motivation, she was trying to "catch" him the first time she really crawled.  I have a feeling she will be cruising soon just so she can get to him, poor thing.

  • She just started pulling up on her activity cube at Christmas. (She's 9 months now.) She doesn't crawl yet, so she only pulls up if you sit her in front of it. She also pulls up on our hands/arms.

  • DS just started crawling Christmas Eve. He will get up on his knees but he is not pulling himself up yet.

Over-40 parents...what we lack in vigor, we make up for with cunning.
  • I special snowflaked. Will can pull himself up if the thing he is pulling up on is a bit lower. He still has a bit of trouble pulling up to slightly taller dimes like the couch and coffee table.

  • Connor pulls up, squats, dances and cruses around everything he can get grab and hold on to. Though he can stand without holding anything for a long period as long as he doesn't try and dance.. or else gravity takes over. He does at least step unassisted once a day now, but it usually ends up in him stepping then instantly squatting because he is wobbly. So, I am not counting it as first steps yet.

I'm kind of in this camp. DS pushes backwards and goes in circles, but doesn't get to her knees. She acts like she wants to pull up but doesn't get anywhere. She will stand at her activity table if I put her there. But then does the jelly-legs thing on me too.

This is almost exactly us. DS will be standing without holding onto anything but will plop himself down as if to say, "oh sh*t" when he realizes he's not holding on!

This is us too. DS can sit, pull up, cruise everywhere and back, and sit back down with no problems, and does so all day long. He can stand by himself quite well, but usually only does it if I stand him up and then let go. Today he was concentrating so hard on a toy that he didn't notice he let go. MH pointed it out to me, and I laughed and said something like, "He doesn't realize that he's only holding a toy". A second later, he looked up and was like "Whoa! Where's my support gone?" as he grabbed for the nearest shelf! Hehehe

  • DD can pull herself up if the thing is shorter than her when she's sitting. Once she's up (most of the time we put her there) she can cruise like crazy! She goes back and forth from the ottoman to the couch super fast now. Her favorite thing to do though is hold our hands and walk. All. Dang. Day. Sometimes we need a break and sit her down with toys, and she throws a fit! She's let go a couple times to stand alone for a few seconds, and has tried to take a step between me and DH, but then fell forward and bent her finger back on DH's hand, so she hasn't tried that again since. She just turned 8 months on Christmas ... I have a feeling she'll be walking before a year old.

Oh, and crawling? Yeah ... so not interested. She did finally figure out how to get up on her knees a couple days ago and is just kind of starting to army crawl, but she'd much rather cruise and walk holding our hands.
