Party Menu

Okay so ds's birthday was yesterday. So now we are in full planning mode for dd's birthday. We are planning on about 50-60 people. I am really wanting to do a pasta bar. Meat sauce, Alfredo sauce with grilled chicken strips, and a pesto sauce. With a few different noodles.
Or do BBQ brisket and rolls for sandwichs. What do ya'll think ladies?

Re: Party Menu

  • Pasta bar sounds ah-mazing!

We're just sticking with finger sandwiches and salads. :P

  • I like the pasta bar idea. Instead of doing meat sauce, I would do meatballs. That way, anyone who is avoiding carbs/gluten will still have options. I would add a salad too.

Great idea with a salad! I think a Caesar salad will be a good addition. I have always made meatballs, but I thought meat sauce would be easier. I hadn't even though about that though.

  • I think both pasta and sandwiches are yummy!  My concern would be people trying to stand and eat or eat pasta in their laps.  Unless you have tables and chairs for everyone, I'd lean towards doing the sandwiches since they're easier to eat standing up out of hand.  Just a thought.

  • We will have lots of tables and chairs so that's not an issue. We are doing it at the gym at our church. That way we have plenty of space for the kids to run and play inside if the weather is cold or rainy.

In that case, I say pasta bar, yum!  I assume you'll be able to use the kitchen at the church for heating up the food, etc.   I agree that salad would be a great addition, maybe also some rolls and butter or (my personal fave) garlic bread.

  • I would go with pasta bar. It is more kid friendly.
  • I'm doing a pasta bar for DS's party next month. Few pasta options, marinara, Alfredo, pesto sauces, grilled chicken, meat balls, fresh basil with salad and French bread on the side.
