Our guest room is currently orange and it is going to become the nursery. We had decided that we would just keep the walls orange (pretty close to an orange sherbet color) no matter if it was a boy or a girl. Well, we found out we are having a boy. People keep asking us "Are you still planning on keeping the walls orange?" And they sound surprised when we say yes. So now I am second guessing our decision. I don't think it is girly but I want some more opinions. I want to be 100% sure we aren't going to paint before we start putting furniture in the room.

Orange is kind of girly, paint it a different color
@Teresa1896 I agree! But everyone sounds so surprised about the orange. I guess some people just think a boy's nursery should always be blue? Who knows
I voted SS. I really wanted orange walls but when I looked up how wall colors affect babies I decided to go with green. Orange just wasn't relaxing at all. That being said, if you love it I'm sure it will be just fine. I would just pair it with a cooler accent color like green or blue. Currently our nursery is green with orange accents
I don't think orange is gender specific but I don't think I'd paint an entire nursery that color because I'd worry it would be overstimulating. I am super sensitive to color though.
Thanks, everyone! I feel a little silly for asking now that I see the overwhelming response to keep it orange. But it does make me feel a lot better about our choice!
@Linnea503 that is a good point about orange being stimulating. Maybe we could figure out some accent colors to add or something. I know we will be adding some decals to the walls, too.
I think orange is pretty gender-neutral actually. You could easily decorate it for either a boy or a girl, or keep it gender neutral. I would not re-paint. Wall decals could be cute though.
I definitely don't think it's girly. I can't imagine having a nursery that color though. DH's office is orange and it drives me nuts after awhile. I just like more calming wall colors, but that's just me.
I think it's gender neutral. I did DD's big girl room in orange, she asked for it. Orange sounds harsh, but there are nice shades. Here's her (unfinished) room since I'm obsessed:
We are doing blue and we are team green. A couple people have asked if we know it's a boy and aren't telling anyone. Because it will obv cause psychological problems if I have a girl and she has a blue nursery.
DD's nursery was blue. She's just fine. It's staying that way for team green lo#2.
I love orange. It totally goes both ways. I am planning on doing robin's egg blue walls with accents of bright orange and yellow for my gender neutral nursery.

Orange, to me is a bit over stimulating for a baby. I would tend towards a slightly more relaxing color, but if you are going to do something bright, the gender thing isn't an issue. IMO orange is more masculine than feminine but it's also all in the accessories.
