WTH?!?

So, I was GOING to be all excited about the check that came from Carters today for the clothes I sent back. $268. I like that.

Then I opened an EOB from our insurance company for a claim from 1/17/07. That's almost 2 years ago, right?!? Yes, and it's $1,300 worth of uncoverable charges b/c the claim was received after the time limit specified on our plan. WTH?! I don't even know what it's for. I know I need to call. But I need to wait a few minutes...

Re: WTH?!?

  • for claims I file if the insurance denies for them being submitted late the member does NOT have to pay, the patient gets bills from the insurance to tell them they won't pay and may from the dr. trying to get money... I'd check with your insurance because you may not have to pay anything.

Ditto this word for word. I used to work for a CIGNA Healthcare, and the patient was never responsible in cases like this. Don't pay it!

  • You probably won't have to file unless it was your own fault that they were unable to file in a timely fashion.
  • oops.  won't have to PAY not file.  Argh.
  • Ok, I hope that you girls are right. It certainly is through no fault of my own. It still pisses me off though. And honestly, DH has an ongoing medical condition and we have so many medical bills/claims that I can't keep up with it all. I would have never known it wasn't taken care of, kwim?

    Must remind myself to breathe.

  • I'd be pissed too. Hopefully the girls are right.  GL!

And I love the new pic of your little cutie patootie DD.   :)

  • If the doctor's office did not file it in a timely manner that is on them. The doctor should know that they have x amount of days to file the claim in order to be paid. Contact your member services with your insurance company.
