Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Share your baby food making gadgets

I used the Baeba with my daughter and son but have since gotten rid of it. I liked the Baeba and considered buying it again but I wanted to see what others are using to make baby food and perhaps learn of some cheaper options. I've heard of some using a steamer and an immersion blender (like the Cuisinart Smart Stick) but curious to hear any feedback.

Thanks in advance!

  • Just a regular food processor

  • I was gifted the Munchkin baby mixer. Used it a lot for a month, then almost never. We started with purées and then moved on to a modified BLW, where he eats/plays by himself, and then we feed him mashed food. At 9mo he's really good with finger foods and gets more in him than around him. Surprising how efficient gums and saliva are at breaking down food.

  • we were gifted a baby brezza. love it.

  • I'm using the baby bullet and following their guide (I'm one who requires detailed instructions, lol)
  • I have the baby bullet, but only used it a handful of times. It worked great, but as PP said, LO didn't eat purées for that long. However, I LOVE the storage cups and freezing tray that comes with it. Used it way more than the appliances.
  • Last time, a blender.

This time I have a food mill and food processor as well.

    Nothing baby specific.

  • A steamer we had, a stick blender we had and ice cube trays.  If you've got to buy something, buy something you'll be able to use when purees are through in a couple months.

  • We used an immersion (stick) blender. Easy/convenient and we didn't have to buy anything. He really only ate purées for a month or two though. We still use pouches if we are it and about but other than that he eats table food.

  • Thanks to all! I think I'll forego something so specific to baby. Good point about some babies not eating puréed food (which was the case with my DS) or some not eating it for long. Perhaps I'll look into a stick blender.
  • I use a steamer and a couple of small food processors that I already had.  The only thing I have that's specifically "baby" is small storage containers.  I got them as a gift and so far they seem to work well.  I also use ice cube trays for longer term storage.
  • I cook the food in a pot with about an inch of water at the bottom.
Once it's cooked I use the baby bullet.  Although it works fine, it's just the same as a regular blender so if you have that already I wouldn't bother buying anything else.

We put the food in small tupperware containers so we can re-use them.
