I am the one with cankles!

MIL rant ahead

Why is it that MILs need to claim physical and personality traits. She is always claiming that he gets everything from his dad. Today when someone said DS looked like me she replied that the person should work for the UN as they were obviously just trying to make me feel good because he looks nothing like me. WTH? I think he is a good mix of both of us.

Later when someone commented on his chubby feet she claimed that he comes by it naturally. No, excuse me, I rock a mean cankle fuck you very much. And unfortunately it looks like as of right now LO got my chubby ankles and feet.

I love when DS reminds me of his dad. I just don't know why she feels she needs to claim all of these traits as hers. Is it a mother in law and grandson thing??

And for fun. Here is dad and son in matching jean on jean outfits.

  • I've noticed my family sees me and his family sees him in lo. I can get how it would be annoying though. I just think people like to see their family heritage in babies.

  • Um that sucks but that pic is adorable.
  • My sisters mil insists ds looks like my oldest sisters kids. Uhhh no. Not at all my neohews look like their dad. My ds does not.

At first ds looked like bds mini me, nowthat hes older hes starting to look like me.

Im sorry your mil insists your ds looks like his daddy. If it makes you feel bad, i think your ds is adorable and looks like both of you

I honestly don't care who he looks like just some of the comments seem to be treading closely to her reliving her days raising DH. She is constantly commenting on how DH did this and that. She always threatens with the "just you wait" comment like wait until I have to deal with a crazy little boy running around the house.

@mommabmb I like the mailman come back.

    Edited- to fix hard words.

  • I kinda have the opposite situation? My daughter looks just like me, seriously she's a clone. She has H eyebrows and feet but that is it! I almost feel guilty bc I want people to notice his features in her. So anytime she makes a facial expression like his I make sure I point it out so that he (and others) see it too. I think mil feels the same way so she points out his features more often bc quite honestly LO doesn't look very much like him.

  • DS has a dimple, and DH's aunt swears the dimple is from her.  She doesn't have dimples.  She has laugh lines and wrinkles.  Plus, my mom has a dimple.  If anything, it's from her.  Besides that, I'm with BabyE.  DS looks exactly like me to the point where I sometimes feel a little guilty, but Asian genes just seem to be more dominant.  We did recently determined he has DH's chubby baby cheeks though.  :)

  • We must have the same MIL! It's annoying! Every time MIL sees L, she comments how she got her great-grandpa's (MIL dad) blue eyes...even though every person in my family has blue eyes.
And while holding L with a bunch of people standing around, she said "and this one doesn't look a thing like her mother!"

It wouldn't bother me one bit if L was an exact clone of DH! But shut up MIL- it's getting old!
