I am probably going to buy one. I'm a FTM, but, everyone that I know that has one, likes them. They last through multiple babies too, so I've been told.
I'm going to buy one (Saturday hopefully!). We went to see them in person last week and they seem really good. I even sat on one that was set up as toddler bed and it didn't budge at all so clearly it's made to hold up well. (I am well over the weight of a toddler). A bunch of people I know have used them.
Down side for some people is that doesn't covert to a normal bed. Actually this is nbd for us since this is our first and we plan to have more.
I've read that any matress will work (the dimensions they list on the web support that info). I have been waiting and waiting for the white Gulliver to come back in stock at my location. It's been months. I may have to settle for the natural finish if it doesn't come back
I would totally recommend them. The only reason we didn't buy one is that the dark colored one wasn't available in Canada until too late last time so we got a very similar crib that was a little bit more expensive. I love the clean simple lines that those cribs have.
Spending lots of money on cribs that convert to beds later on can be a waste since you'll most likely need that crib for the next baby in the next 2-3 yrs (if you're having more) and most babies are little beavers who think that chewing the lovely cribs while they're teething is a fun thing to do.

Thanks! I'm really not interested in spending $200+ for a crib! I also am not a big fan of the convertible cribs. I really like the simple cribs. I was just worried that they don't seem sturdy enough. This is going to sound strange, but sometimes I think that IKEA furniture is for short people!
We have the Gulliver and really like it. This baby will sleep in our room for the first few months but once big brother moves into a toddler bed it'll be on its second baby. It takes a bit of a beating from DS but is still in great shape. I have a regular crib mattress in there and it fits just fine.
I will add that I am 5'3" and one of the things I really like about it is that it isn't too tall! I can lean over the side of the crib and give DS a kiss when he's lying down (at least, I used to be able to before my belly got so darn big).
Not to hijack the post, but you all seem knowledgeable on Ikea. We dont have a store near us...yet (its coming 2015!) So im not familiar with their furniture. Im looking for a dresser that isn't too pricy and found one I like on their website. Any thoughts of the quality/longevity of that type of furniture?
I really like the ikea stuff. I think it looks good. The solid wood furniture I think holds up really well. My sister has a solid wood coffee table from there that's been through hell and back and still looks great and is sturdy. I wouldn't hesitate to buy furniture from there except for how far away it is from us (like three hours!)
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!

@Dayzie14 We have 2 Ikea dressers. One we bought when we bought the crib - so it's going on 6 years. Still is perfectly fine. The other is in DD1's "big girl" room, so it's going on 3 years old. Also great shape.
Hard to say if they'll still be in our house in 20 years, but definitely through their childhoods. We buy a good amount from Ikea - we don't buy the cheapo dorm room quality stuff, but the mid - higher range tends to be great - look for solid wood not particle board, etc.. I have no qualms about looking there for anything. We just bought 3 shelving units for our living room - looks fantastic, solid wood, class lines, etc.
This. Also look at the different lines they have. Some lines are solid wood and others use particle board. It's good to read about them on their website, for more information, since you can't go in a store. I've been satisfied with my purchases.
